    Day 1:

I wasn’t able to start the juice fast on Thursday as planned. I had a family emergency arise, that required me to be able to focus and be present 100% of the time. I know from the 10 day juice fast I did last year, I’m not 100% present. I tend to go into a “zone out” mode, and get tired from talking, activity doesn’t kill me, but people wanting me to talk drains me. Weird!!

Today is my day 1. I just woke up, so I’m not faced with any struggles of hunger yet. That will be here by mid afternoon, and my challenge starts then. As my toddler naps, I need to fight the urge to raid my cupboards.

My husband is in support of the juice fast, with plenty of guard up. He doesn’t like that I’m also using it as a kick off to a diet. I’ve tried explaining to him it’s my way of trying to kick my binging disorder in the bum. I need to face it head on, get past it, plan how I want to come off the fast, and change my eating habits. Hopefully I will be successful, and in 6-12 months, he will see it was a great thing for me to undergo.

So here comes my first day, my first goal is 20 days, and I hope to hit 30 days. But, I do plan on taking this one day at a time.

    Day 2:

The hunger is there, ugh. I hate that empty feeling in my stomach, where I want to sit or stand with bad posture, probably in some sort of subliminal hope the hunger will subside with this stance. I feel slightly flu’ish, but I feel better than I did on day 2 of the last fast. I don’t like this foggy’ness though. I feel like I’m not quite understanding people, and I’m also getting annoyed with small talk. Yep, I’m a grump when hungry 😉

I bought some Azteca Fire tea from Teavanna. For those unfamiliar, it’s an herbal tea that tastes like chocolate covered cherries. It’s my treat while fasting! I ordered Sucanat, I’ve never had, but it looks like Tom on this site uses it. I also ordered Celtic Sea Salt to replace my regular sea salt. I’m getting my kitchen stocked slowly as I fast. So once I’m done, I won’t have to load up on some of these hard to find products.

I need to jump online and try to find which path I want to follow once I’m done. My husband is a STRICT vegetarian, I’ve alway been a meat eater, primarily chicken, with a once or twice a yr steak. I also love my junk food and organic wine. Give me wine when my husband is working late, and I will raid my cupboards of all the junk food.

I stepped on the scale this morning, I was 156.2, but, I didn’t get an accurate start weight, I was somewhere between 157-158 (probably closer to 158). I know the first few days are water. I’m looking forward to 1 week into the process, when it becomes a much higher ratio of fat I’m seeing drop off the scale.

    Day 3….. 154 lbs

So here I am, hungry, with my internal voice screaming at me to make a smoothie, or go buy a veggie delight sub from Subway…. Why oh why? I don’t like this hunger, I am envious of those who make it to day 3 and on and don’t experience the hunger anymore. I’m also frustrated because the fog is heavy today, and to focus with my toddler is difficult.

I did wake up with a pounding headache, so late this morning I broke and took 1 ibuprofen. It took a little edge off, but is barely helping. OUCH 🙁

Hi Lisa, I wish I could say something profound to make you stop thinking about food. But alas…YOU are the only one that can stop yourself.

Prayers are a good way to persevere through a difficult time. And a good time of thanks!

So be happy you made it through 3 days! Half of the first time fasters don’t make it past ONE! God Bless, Ron

I had to stop the fast. I woke this morning with the worst headache, I could barely function or move. Which is not acceptable, as I gave up my career as a biochemist to be a full time SAHM. I took 2 Excedrin, but with all the caffeine in the Excedrin, the shakes came on bad, I had to eat. Shortly after eating, the headache completely subsided, and the shakes from the Excedrin stopped. Right now I’m going to stick to a vegetarian diet.

I also learned with a 22 month old son entering the terrible 2’s, I may need to wait until he pulls out of it before I attempt a fast again. The tantrums, for what seemed like no reason to me, was hard to deal with rationally and calmly while in a fog and hungry. The last thing I would want for him, is to have me lash out over something petty because I’m fasting. It’s not fair to his little innocent world.

Pianful headaches indicate your body is toxic. You may try eating salads and just fruit for 2 days before trying another juice fast.

Hi Ann, Well the most famous person was Jesus! Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Then there were a multitude of saints through the ages. And, we have fasters here that have attempted one, and a few have achieved that goal and more!

Check Youtube for several testimonies. There is one woman that did 3, 40 day water fasts in a row. Just an amazing story.

It is not for the weak of heart. There are very, very few that make 40 days on water for their first fast. Short juice, and water fasts are recommended for newbies. You have to get your mind, body and spirit prepared for any fast!

Please explore our site for vast amounts of info on the subject. Welcome and feel free to ask any questions. Ron

      Thanks Ron,
though not motivating, I shall not be moved. Am on day 16 of my water fast and have lost 9kg so far, this the first fast I have ever done ever. I dont have any food cravings except for the stomach cramps and feeling weak.I intend to do the 40 days.
