Can I drink bottled juice during a fast?

bottled juiceDo not expect to heal your body drinking only bottled juices.  They lack in vitamins, minerals and enzymes.  Bottle juice is fine if you are only trying to lose weight and you can fast on it, but that is so much less than the incredible boost in health and vitality that juices from and extractor will give you. I do not recommend prolonged fasting on bottled, canned or frozen juices.  If you are going to fast that long, a juicer is a cheap investment and will transform your fast.

I only recommend bottle juices when you main juices are coming from an extractor and the bottle juices are a supplement.

Buy unsweetened natural juice is good since these has lower sugar levels. Bottled juice is great when you do not have fresh juice available, it is an alternative.  Also frozen concentrates are good. When I make fresh watermelon juice, I add a can of frozen pineapple juice and the taste is amazing and it also sustains me for many hours of hard physical labor.

Fresh juice is better for you as it has a revitalizing effect due to enzymes and all the nutritional mysteries that science is just beginning to understand that are killed by heat, air, and light. So drink as much fresh juice as you can and when you can’t drink sweetened herbal teas, bottled juice and frozen concentrates.

Bottled Juice Problems During a Fast

Too much acidic juice, such as apple or grapefruit take too quickly can cause stomach pains.

Heated tomato juice with some Worcestershire sauce and a sprinkle of garlic powder when you are chill from fasting is delicious and heart warming. Too much tomato juice slows the detoxification.

Freeze fresh cantaloupe juice into Popsicle and you feel like you are cheating because they taste so good. Enjoy as they are permitted during a juice fast.

Bottled juice is pasteurized and has lost its enzymes but has natural sugars, vitamins and mineral. Do not drink powdered juice mixtures or flavored fruit drinks.

My favorite bottle juices are beet, mango and pear.

what about drinking V8? I don’t like normal V8 but I like V8 Splash, it is 10% juice. Would driking V8 splash be a good or bad idea durring a juice fast? Im going to start a week fast today. This will be my first one. Just kind of a trial.

what about over the counter drugs? you mentioned that diarrhea is common durring a juice fast, is there anything wrong with taking anti-diarrhea medicine or any other over the counter drugs?

    Hi Tim,
I live in third world counties and the water is often loaded with bacteria. When the stomach starts to gurgle, I race to the pharmacy.

Hi, I was thinking about fasting for my first time. I work at GNC and take a multivitamin and some extra antioxidants(alpha lipoic acid). I was wondering if it I could do the juice fast and continue to take my supplements at the same time.

  6. Tom Coghill Tom Coghill says:

Yes Shanna, It is always good to take supplements on a juice fast.

  7. Mark says:

You’re not supposed to do a bottled juice fast because like all cooked, canned or bottled food, it is devoid of “food enzymes” which make food far less nutritionally costly to process. I’ve only heard of food enzymes on TV once, during a Jack Lalanne commercial. Why? Because all brand name foods have no enzymes and all foods that have enzymes anyone can grow. Plus the more enzymes in fresh foods the shorter the shelf life. They’d lose money if we know about food enzymes.

Just put a banana + water or some watermelon in the blender for your juice, maybe add some fiber supplement. Much healthier. Anyone not used to eating this healthy can expect withdrawal symptoms.

I thought watermelon was not a good fruit to use in a juice diet?

    Hi Lisa,
Watermelon makes lots of cheap delicious juice and excellent for juice fasting. I like it with pineapple.

I am considering a juice fast for spiritual and overall health. I would like to lose weight as well and I am looking at a 30 day fast. I am a beginner when it comes to juice fasting and I am trying to find out as much as possible before I begin. I am currently cutting down my food consumption to prepare my stomach. I am limited to bottled juices and I am looking for suggestions as to which are the best. My current line of thinking lets me know that if it doesn’t contain corn syrup it can go on my list. Please help me with some information. If possible, can you email me at the address I have provided you.

    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
I am thinking about doing the juice fast but a little scared because this is my first time but had a couple question. I am in a fitness class during the week is it ok to still fast? and can you make any kind of juice in the juicer(veggie vs fruit) whats best? Also how much weight does an average person lose? I am 148 and want to be at 130 :) how long would I have to fast? does it clean your system out should I stay close to the restroom? and lastly can I drink green tea with honey like the lipton brand? thanks hopefully I can do it!

Yes you can exercise. Do a site search on exercise, weight loss rates, 30 days is recommended if you have will power and are without compulsive behaviors. If not shorter juice fast progressing to longer ones.
