To Keith and all, I’m 18 days in…on a juice fast…just lost 16 lbs….I’m running 5.5 miles/day…and working 40 hrs. /week….KEITH your advice to maybe limit my amount of juice would be the right direction to go…thanks…My running though is getting rediculous…I’m running close to a level I haven’t run for 20YEARS !!!! seriously ! ….I do suppliment my juice with vitamins..fish oil…and spirulina…the spirulina ? …I’m getting very fond of…before and after runs…QUESTION? how much is TOO much…I’m probably taking about 20 grams or more daily…is that ok…???….another praise report is, my blood pressure it was 155/90 before the fast…yeah…now!..the last time I checked it…115/75…smack!!!…Isaiah 58:8 ” and your health SHALL SPRING FORTH SPEEDILY”….praise God for fasting…truely love all you guys and girls…. Seeker1 I know your last post wasn’t directed toward me, but I found it so helpful! I love the way you put things in perspective, you really have a knack for it. Like Territorytaker says – please keep it coming! You truly are a blessing to us all, as I’m sure everyone on here would agree.
What happened to Tom? Are you still out there Tom? Hope all is well in the Phillipines.
As for me, I’m fasting on Saturdays – indefinitely I hope. Other than that, I was planning to start a 40 day water fast on New Years but I’m running out of patience waiting for the new year to get here. I watched some of those youtube vids of the lady who did 3 consecutive 40 day fasts. She may not have done it properly, but she seemed to do really well anyway, even with 7 little ones to take care of. God really took care of her.

You all are such an inspiration! I can’t wait to start my fast. God knows I really need it & I know I do to build my relationship with him. Since I can’t stand the wait, I’m going to have just veggies, juice, soup & tea tomorrow & of course water. Then start my fast Saturday as always & just keep it going for 10 days. I’ve never made it past day 4 yet, so I think it will really help get me prepared for my big new years fast. I also would like to be as clean as possible starting my fasts. So I was thinking of trying a salt water flush. Isn’t it 1 tablespoon salt to 1 liter of water? Then drink it all at once right?? Is 1 liter enough for 1 day? I’m afraid I don’t know anything about it except what i’ve seen in this thread… I’m sure I am packed full of all kinds of toxic build up. I spent most of my 33 years living on nothing but highly processed foods full of chemicals & didnt stop until this summer. I’ve always had a problem with constipation. I have a hard time with enemas because mine holds a whole gallon & since I can only take a little at a time, it takes forever & I still feel constipated after. So I’m going to try an enema followed by the salt water flush & hope it helps! Sorry for being so graphic, but if anyone has any helpful advice I’d love to hear it!
Nikki, psyllium husks!!! I buy it pure ground at nutition geeks or any health food store…1-2 tablespoons (or as much as you need we’re all unique) in a glass of juice…in 2-3 days you’ll be regular…you drink it fast and wash it down quickly because it sets up like jelly…but it really works…I’ve been taking it regularly for about 15 years now…I get it in 15 lb. bags…much cheaper that way…lasts me about 6-8 months…God bless, John.

Yeah i had the same deal. When i first did a water fast it lasted 8 days i had a bm on the first and didn’t have another until the SEVENTH! I failed shortly after due to mental stress.
I’m actually about to post on my blog about how important the colon is to health (mental and physical). Just the other day I was feeling grouchy and uncomfortable for no apparent reason, i thought maybe i was just tired or bored. So I decided to do a SWF because i hadn’t gone the day before and to my horror there was this absoultly RANCID organgy-red stuff and within minutes after releasing this monstrosity i was calm, energtic and slightly elated. Even today i ate some food that I KNOW can mess me up (just to test) and lo and behold i begin to feel this tension and noticed increased aggression and irritaion. Yogis always say, “healthy colon, healthy mind” which is why i think they invented the SWF (was it they who invented it?). In fact when your colon is full of toxins it can cause alot of the toxins to be reabsobed into your bloddstream causing and auto-intoxication, which can be very unpleasant.
Anyway, the SWF is MY enema of choice, but thats only because my body is used to it. I do one every week or so anyway so…yeah, but it’s DEF important to clean it out when you feel it might need it, even AFTER the fast, if you feel clogged up it can help immensly. It’s good if you find a safe method that you agree with. I made the SWF work for me, Kieth found chemist version, you should find what works best for you. But in a pinch a SWF(or other easy method) is better than nothing. Also be aware of what you decide to use. During the MC i did when i was 16 i used “smooth move” senna tea, which i read now has a risk of dependance if overused. I didn’t find any problems with it but just be aware of the ingrediants in whatever you decide to take.

Keith- Hey sorry i couldn’t catch ya on msn this mornin, apparently there’s a new update i have to download and this comp is having trouble doing so. I’ll be repairing my laptop soon so i should be on again in a week or so. Until then i’ll continue to brainstorm of ideas
. Also i’m thinking of trying something new. I’m going to start another 10 day water fast soon but i’m going to use P&B shakes (psyllium and bentonite) which is a fiber powder. I want to see what happens, if i can continue bowl movements daily or…whatever, i just want to experiment. Again i’m also using Bentonite Clay, a powerful detoxifant made from molten ash(?) which apparently draws toxins out of tissue, so we’ll see how that goes. I just have to sort a few things out for school then i’ll start (prolly a week or so), and certainly keep you all posted
. Hows your fast coming btw? When you get this you should be on day 11? I’m sure you’re doing fine, but i wish you well anyways

Well Guys im afraid i will have to halt my water fast tomoz day 12, as i have to go into work next week to tile a few bathrooms, i need the work and it was totally unexpected, but a total blessing for me.
my waight loss is just over 10 lbs in 11 days.

Yeah psyllium husks work rather well. I too took them in pill form for quite a bit around the age of 14-16 and found it did indeed help me stay regular. Another thing that works for me is a regular fruit smoothie in the morning. I like to take the juice of about 5 medium sized oranges and blend it with a banana, 1-2 full handfulls of blueberries (LUV THOSE
Also on an alternative note, how regular is you daily schedule? In TCM and Ayurveda the colon and schedule are highly related. The colon is known to be related with your body-time clock, when you feel sleepy and when you feel hungry. Both forms of medicine stress highly the importance of eating at regular times and sleeping/waking at regular times. For me personally this was a revelation. I remember when i was working for a bank i would always be up at 6, have a fruit smoothie, have lunch at 1 and dinner between 5 and 6 and be passed out by 9. Now i didn’t balance that ruitine with enough “me time” so it became monotonous and ….like “dead”. Like u know when you’re just going through the motions, and it’s like there’s no spontenaeity and it’s just “grey”?, like you’re asleep watching your body respond with prescripted, politically correct sayings? Maybe thats just me, but anyway, so i rebeled against ruitine because i saw how it could destroy the beauty and fun of life. So I moved and got a job with irregular hours, began getting irregular sleep, eating at irregular times, and all of a sudden my bowl movements were…irregular, lol.
Also In Qi-Gong the pose for increasing colon health was squatting. Now actually squatting is that natural position we were meant to defacate in. The idea of “sitting” i think came from the whole mindset of ” we must be cilivized and not like the animals” kinda thing. But i’ve been squatting for that past couple months and found that bm’s come much easier and smoother. Just sitting in a squatted position is a great way to restore balance. I’ll be uploading an instructional vid on my blog once i get my laptop working again.
Lastly on an energetic viewpoint…have you ever heard of the 7 chakras? If not i’d look them up (i’m gonna put up a page about them on my blog). Each one represents a certain aspect of human life. Basically there are also certain emotions and feelings that can upset your physical health. Energy healers will say that disease starts in your spirit, spreads to you mind then manifests in you body. Root chakra imbalances are asscociated with feelings of worry, confusion, boredom, feeling like you don’t belong, or not being comfortable with who you are. According to this it is especially anxiety and worry that weaken the colon.

thanks again seeker! i will try the psyllium husks. your smoothie sounds delicious. i’m fasting now so i’ll try it after. tomorrow i’m going to give the swf a try – hopefully i do ok with it. i don’t really know anything about chakra’s but i will look into that also. as far as my schedule / routine, i don’t really have one. lately i’ve been going to sleep at about 5:30am & waking up at 8:30am – not on purpose. i’m trying to fix my schedule & get a healthy routine started. i have been eating a lot of high fiber toast lately & actually been pretty regular the past couple days. other than a couple pieces of toast, i havent had an appetite. my life is in serious need of structure! even though i don’t have much of a routine, it still feels like i’m just going through the motions. exactly like you said, it’s like i’m asleep, just watching myself exist. my life is very lifeless – if that makes any sense? i need to find a job or a hobby or something. i’m certain this fast will give the clarity to figure it out.

. STILL haven’t had ‘gone’ yet (no bm) so if it doesn’t happen today I might try a swf tomorrow.
Today is the start of Day 7!! I cannot believe I have made it this far. I’m definitely going to go for at least the 10 days (just because that has always seemed like an impossible goal to me and to acheive it I would have more confidence in myself!). I have lost a total of 11.2lb over 6 days now which is also nice

8-10 mile power walking then an hour of weights mon, tue,- thurs, fri.

im sure you will do fine on this new fast, have some quiet time to yourself and im sure youl get the answers you are looking for, on my last 30 day water fast i was so at peace within myself and others,its really hard to explain but i was a lot closer to god than i had ever been in my life, i guess i just let go of everything and put my life in his hands.
I am back training at the jym 4 days a week starting tue, but im not looking forward to the muscle soarness,but i am looking forward to a sauna after lol.

well i’m just wrappin up day 2 – nothing but water. i’m losing my voice today & getting a headache, nothing unbearable. i’m feelin pretty great overall so far! God is really in my corner sustaining me.
Hi all! So glad I have found this site! Today is my 4th day of a juice fast. Am more hungry today than I have been the last three days, please tell me it will go away soon, cannot imagine going for another 26 days like this. Have had no side effects yet, no white tongue, no sleepiness, dizziness or anything that I have been expecting to have. Hope I am doing this correctly. Am following a ‘diet’ juice plan that incorporates veg and fruit, have 5 glasses a day and water for the rest of the time. I might start with some green tea next week. I am still doing gym 3 times a week but not as strenuously as I was doing before.
Any tips or comments?

I really am not sure how many cals or carbs I am taking in. I am currently following ‘Brendan McCarthy’s Jump Start 7 day weigh loss program’. I am following this for the recipes as I find it easier than just mixing a lot of random fruits and veggies together. The initial reason for the fast was to stop smoking as I had heard that the best way to quit an addiction is fasting, I am on day 6 without a cigarette and not battling at all. The fast has now become about general health and well being but I am really battling with the hunger, as this is my 5th day, I really thought the hunger would have subsided by now. Have decided that from today until Friday I will do a water fast and then back onto the juice fasting and maybe try and do 3 day water fasts in between the juice fasting until my 30 days are up.

Okay this is my first day of the fast. Had nothing but water. I am sleepy. I am fasting for one week. Wish me luck.
I had half of a granola bar yesterday but I am counting today as my first day on the fast. I hope I can fast for 30 days. I am confident I will last 7 days.
Hi llisaj, good luck. I am currently on day 5 and am battling with the hunger, I have found that keeping busy helps, go for a walk or even reading a book takes your mind off the hunger.

Hi Laiya, If you want to detox more cut back on the juice, especially fruit. Remember, the more sugars the less detoxing effect. I typically start with water the first few days, then gradually go with veggie juice and teas. Some days I’ll go back to water. After 20-30 days even juice has lost it’s luster and I need to create a want for it again by depriving myself! LOL
When I need a boost, like at the gym or work, I’ll drink fruit juices. Bananas & tomatos slow the detoxing. Try to avoid those in quantity.
Listen to your body. Only take in what you feel you need. And you will feel less hungry. Enemas every 2-3 days also help to detox, and get rid of hunger.

Thanks Ron, I will cut down on the juice, think maybe 3 a day (veggie juice) and the rest of the time water. Sounds like a good idea. My last two days of water fasting have left me really week and light headed, believe it or not, I enjoyed the experience, made me feel like something important had happened – I know that sounds strange!!! I had a glass of juice this morning as I was going to gym and did not want to take the chance of passing out!

Hi Tom & Everyone! It’s great to see the site ablaze with all you wonderful fasters!! I’ve been here popping in from time to time, close to a year and haven’t seen it this busy. I found Tom and this site because I was searching for a way to heal my body. And I did!! Thanks to Tom and his insightful guidance, both spitriual and healthwise.
I have been fasting for years as a way to control my weight and offer a sacrafice to God. But I was only fasting one day a week. It wasn’t enough to detox my body. Now I have a system of fasting that is enjoyable and practical. For me anyway.
I would like to share it with you fasters as my way to help, and show another option.
I’m fasting one day a week, one week per month and one month per year. It’s a great system for many reasons. For one, you never remove yourself far from fasting. It becomes part of your life, and routine. Also, there is no stress on “when” will I start my fast and will I finish? If you have a lapse, there is always your day, or week that will be coming next. Another is weight control! I lost 35lbs and have never moved more than a few pounds up or down! And I haven’t been sick, or feeling poorly at all since I started this routine in June of this year! And the greatest benefit for me is the spiritual side. Fasting has kept me closer to God.
I found this site in January, and was not able mentally to fast at that time. It took me 4 months before I could do it! Leading up to my first fast, I planned. I kept fasting the one day per week, and marked my calendar. I prayed. I put better things in my body and I changed my thinking! When the day came I was prepared to change my life. And I DID IT!!
I found now, that I control the fasting, not the fasting controlling me. This is very important. Remember, you can take control. Don’t be discouraged by a setback. Stay calm. Say a prayer, and climb back on. We are just humans and we make mistakes. It’s how we respond to them that makes us stronger.

Smoking can be cured by a water fast but you must be really focused 100%.
water fasting is easier for the hunger but you will need 4 days to get over the hunger on water.

Its great to have you as a part of the team helping others achieve there fasting goals. I have also gained insight on reading about juice/water fasting, but as iv said to a couple of friends on here the best way to understand fasting” is by doing a fast.
I think the most important thing is to give safe advice, thats why i ask newcomers their age hight and waight and what they want out of a fast. There is no point in fasting if they cant follow on with some sort of exersice program,

Hi everyone. First post. I am 53 and am going through a rough menopause due to adrenal fatigue. I went on bio-identical hormones last March. They have helped tremendously but I am starting to realize that they are not the whole answer to what ails me. I am starting a water fast today. I want to fast until I lose the belly fat the I hope is causing part/most of the hormonal imbalances I am experiencing. My thoughts are that I should not use any substances to “cure” bad health until I have done everything I can with fasting, proper diet and general self-care.
I had a hard time starting this fast because I feared the bad days – the healing crisis. Then I realized that those days could not be any worse that the days when I am under the weather due to my general poor health. Duuuuh.
I am an experienced faster. I did a 30 day and a 40 day juice fast in my 30′s. They were successful. I want to try a fast that is not dependent on any substance other than water.
If anyone has any tips re: fasting during the 50′s I would love to hear them!

Fasting for me in the 50′s is easier to do I just lack insentive for a long as my health is good. So mostly I do shorter fast more frequently as a tune up. I always recommend small amounts of green juices daily instead of straight water fasting. The body has a greater healing response due to an event called molecular turnover. I will be publishing the research soon.

Juice fasting is safer to do, but if you have your heart set on water fasting, a 7 day water fast would be the best way to go for you to start with, let me know what meds you are on before you start a water fast so i can make sure you are ok to do this.
What is your waight, and hight, and target body waight, let me know a little more about your fitness.

Hi guys. Thanks for responding so quickly. I had a rough first day and the support is wonderful. There is no one I can discuss this with in my daily life.
I am on bio-identical hormone creams (BHRT) – estrogen, testosterone and progesterone. I stopped using the creams a few days ago as I don’t want them to interfere with the cleanse.
I am 194 lbs, 5’6″ tall and my target weight is 140lbs. My fitness level is not bad for my age – but not good enough for me. I was on a destructive cycle of insomnia, caffeine to make it through the day, back to insomnia that night. Too many animal fats and refined carbs and not enough fruits and vegetables.
With my fasting experience I found that I do very well with extended fasts. It takes a good 30 days to see the results I crave – the newly generated soft skin, the clear eyes, the healthy food cravings as well as the weight loss. I will probably switch between water and juice fasting – depending on how I feel. I don’t like the blood sugar spikes that go with drinking juices while fasting and want to stay on water as much as possible. Luckily I have a light work load for the next month and I want to take full advantage of this time.
I had success using wheatgrass and barley grass juices while fasting and plan to incorporate them when I feel well enough as we know that they can cause severe cleansing reactions. Any advice is welcome Ron.
I am going to Mexico on Dec 27th and I plan to stick to raw fruits and vegetables which should be easily available at the resort I am staying at. I may restart the fast when I get back – again – we’ll see how I feel.
I have never experienced such severe reactions on the first day of fasting before. I was nauseous most of the day and even vomited a few times. Actually felt much better afterwards. Since I haven’t had anything but water in 18 hours I am sure that was due to the bile being released which doesn’t surprise me because I know that my liver is not in very good condition. I have been careful to avoid getting dehydrated at the same time I have been careful not to risk Thanks again for the support. It is very helpful.

Juice fasting would be the way to go jenny, add lots of water cress into your juice/veg fast.
Please do not go on a straight water fast as this will make you very ill. A 1 day water fast would surfice each week no more than that.

Thanks Bruce. Yep that is the hormone treatment I was taking before I started my fast. The hormones helped me get strong enough to start this fast. Frankly I think they gave me a new life. The only downside is that I was having trouble getting the formula/ratios/dosage right and finally realized that there is no way I can do that until I get the fat off. Bodyfat – especially belly fat causes overproduction of estrogen. When I finish fasting I will go back to my doctor and get the levels checked again and hopefully we can find the right compound for my newly healthy body – if I still need them. I am hoping that the fast and a plant based diet will be enough.
Today is day 3 of my water fast and I feel fantastic. Felt great yesterday. I will supplement with juices if I feel the need. I have done 2 extended juice fasts in the past and I just didn’t like the sugar spikes and crashes from the juices. I also didn’t like having to shop and juice during the fast. It caused too much temptation. I am really enjoying the water fast and plan to stay on water as long as I feel as great as I do today.
Great tip about the watercress juice. I will definitely try that when I decide to add juices to my fast. I started some barley and wheat grass seeds and am looking forward to adding those juices as well. I have been reading the posts to Laiya and will try those juice tips too.
I was born lucky in the skin department and after the extended fasts my skin was absolutely reborn. Wrinkles smoothed out – baby soft skin appeared after lots of skin brushing. One of the great benefits of fasting.

I have been reading into hevy metal detoxification and fresh corriander is ideal, watercress, blitz this in with your fruit/veg when you start juicing.

Juicing does come with its benifits with a hormonal inbalance, but listen to what your body is telling you on your water fasting.

Today is day 10 of my juice fast and I started getting a really bad head cold yeaterday. Feel dreadful today but am making sure I do not take any form of medication and doing very light juicing, mostly water though. Why am I still having such bad hunger pangs? That is what is concerning me the most, surely they should have gone long ago? I am doing the SWF and have started drinking a herbal tea that has a laxative effect ( the SWF really makes me ill and I battle to keep it down, normally end up throwing up) My fasting partner has had no hunger pangs since the 3rd or 4th day???

Add more slow releasing carbs into your juice fast.
Sounds like your blood sugar levels are up and down like a yoyo, what are you mixing into your juice/veg fast, and how much ltr are you taking in.
Try Picolax from the chemist, you dont have to do that much salt water flushing on a juice fast, once would be enough, the thing is with some oral enemas,they only flush out the colon, the salt water flush, flushes the colone and the intestines out, you should have added lime to offset the horrable taste, i have seen myself nearly throwing up to.
Let me know what you are mixing into your juice and how much you are taking and i will work out your cal carb, intake and let you know what to throw into your juicer.

Thank you! I have a glass of juice about 3 times a day. In the morning I usually do fruit, apple, pear, carrot and a peach (this varies but not by much). Afternoon it is celery, asparagus, carrots and a cucumber. And pretty much the same at night, I have tried tomato and onion as well, I really had to force that down, the other night I juiced half a cabbage! I have also added a lemon to my juice, that is really nice. The rest of the day I drink water. I am probably having about 1lt – 1and a half a day. What I have done with the SWF now is mixed the salt in a little bit of water and downed that and then started drinking the rest of the warm water on it’s own, still difficult but not as bad!

5th day of a water fast. Feel good. Really feel led by the Lord in this fast. Have little fasting experience. wf 5 days in 93′, wf 2 days in 08′ broke the fast and that day my Dad died. It truly was a blessing though, someday………
The last 2 years I have been on a 90% raw food diet, run 5 miles every day. Have lost 50 lbs. I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and have taken Humira(last 2 years 40ml every 2 weeks) and Enbrel(the previous 4 years 50ml every week) for the last six years. I took my last injection 11/13.I am not taking it anymore. I am really at the point of either healing on this good diet or saying why eat good if I still have to take this medicine? I dont know how long I will fast. I will keep you posted. I did take my blood pressure today at the grocery store and it was 127 76 with a resting pulse rate of 55. Hi Jenny, If you do a little reseach you will find an abundance of veggie’s, herbs and teas that are great for the liver! There is a great gall bladder cleanse too, using olive oil and lemon juice that cleans the bile from other organs by default. I once was directed by my doctor to have my gall bladder removed. I refused to hvae it out!! I searched the internet and found the cleanse. After the cleanse my pain that I had for 3 years was gone, and my doctor did an ultra sound on me and in disbelief told me I had the “gall bladder of a baby”! Some of the stones that came out of me were the size of a ping pong ball! So, there is always a cure or some kind of answer on God’s good, green earth!

Hi Jim, For a natural add in helping psoriasis and eczema, stay away from dairy products! And for arthritis, glucosamine chondroitin is a wonderful supplimental aid. My fathers hands were almost nonfunctional. He takes 1500 mg’s a day and has been very happy! Now it doesn’t work 100% for everyone, but is worth a try. He said it took about 2 weeks before he started seeing results. You may want to clear it with your doctor first in case you are taking a drug that my interact unfavorably.

Eating a diet high in anti-inflammatory foods for psoriatic arthritis can ease pain and stiffness. Eat lots of fish such as salmon, tuna and sardines that are high in omega-3 fatty acids and lots of fresh produce and whole grain fibers. Many foods cause allergic reactions, such as dairy products, sugar, soy, eggs, citrus fruits, shellfish, alcohol and caffeine. Try these foods one at a time to see if you have a negative reaction. Night shade vegetables could also create an allergic reaction for arthritic patients, which are potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and peppers.
Herbs
Black Cohosh is known as a powerful relaxant and can be helpful in the treatment of arthritis jim. It can also improve the digestive system and increase your appetite. Celery seeds are used as an anti-inflammatory and can reduce swelling. Feverfew has been used to treat painful migraine headaches and will help alleviate some of the painful symptoms. Bogbean is also a treatment used for psoriatic arthritis that stimulates the digestive system. Check with your health professional before taking herbs and supplements to make sure they do not create a reaction with any prescription drugs that you may go back onto jim.
Chinese Herbs
Chinese medicine, which is based on the energy flow in the body, includes herbs, meditation, massage and accupuncture. Some of the topical herbs are evening primrose oil, tea tree oil, emu oil and capsaicin, which an ingredient found in cayenne peppers. If anyone can help I really really really want to do a salt water flush, but I can’t seem to get past the first few ounces without gagging. I wish there was some way to bypass my mouth & pour it directly down my throat. Anybody have any ideas?

I also can’t seem to get past day 4 on a water fast. I get SO sick. I’m never hungry. So as far as food goes, I have a really hard time breaking a fast & trying to eat again. Weaning myself back to food with a day or two of juice is all I can do, probably the only way to go anyway. I just get really ill. I keep trying to push past it, but it seems to keep getting worse. This last water fast I stayed sick for a week after. Everyone swears I have the flu everytime I fast, lol. I never tell anyone I know that I fast, not even dr.’s. So even the dr.’s tell me it’s the flu, lol. My first water fast in Aug. made me so ill because I was so toxic. I wouldn’t think that should be the case anymore? I’ve kept my diet clean since & my recovery time is getting much longer. Any ideas anyone? I’m just finishing day 1 of another water fast now. I may try & fast through thanksgiving if I can? I’ll be busy cooking all day, so I don’t think anyone will notice if I’m not eating
So here are my stats if it helps: I’m 33 yrs old, 5’7″, 141 lbs. I’m out of shape & pretty inactive. I live up 3 flights of stairs though & I try to stretch often. My muscles (all of them) really hurt when I’m fasting, feels like they are pulled really tight. Likely due to my muscles shrinking from my body eating them? My resting heart rate is always very high – always above 100 bpm. I think that just means I have a low metabolism from not enough exercise? My goal is to get down to 113 lbs by New Year’s. Seems like I generally lose 2 lbs per day fasting.
Any help will be greatly appreciated getting past the sick part & especially getting through the swf.

What the heck can you do with them knuckle dragging, Neanderthals?! Time for a drummer joke!! …..How do you tell if the stage is level? The drummer is drooling from both sides of his mouth. LOL

I don’t know if you remember, but I had told you about some friends and family that I fasted with. They saw the life altering changes in me, and also wanted to change. I fasted along with them, which helped us all. It was a great support system. I’ve been telling anyone who has asked, about my changes, about fasting, and about you!! I feel the spirit radiating through me when I’m fasting and people seem to be drawn to me!! It’s been amazing. I really feel like I can help people, if not directly with fasting….then through fasting, as a sacrifice, along with prayer to help in a spiritual way! Lets face it…EVERYTHING is possible through God! I, and my family have seen many miracles through prayer. That is one thing that fasting always does for me is increase faith. It is amazing what we can accomplish when if burns inside with fire. Each day I wake up thankful for another day. I treasure every one. To me the sky is the limit. Imagine 2000 people fasting on this site.. or 1000 hospitals using fasting programs or retirement homes that make juice every day. I want to leave a legacy. My gift to God. A small gesture of sacrifice. Tombstones are boring and to not speak.
Hi Nikki, Forget the swf. Try some herbal cleanse teas w/ senna & chamomile. Tastes good and evacuates the system gently and completely. Also enemas w/ a tbs or 2, of sea salt will take care of the bowels.
Your flu symptoms may be allergies, or sinus problems. I know I have both from time to time!
Dust is a biggy for me in the winter!! I’m chasing my nose constantly! And fasting surprisingly doesn’t seem to help this ailment!
How about a 20-30 day juice fast? You’ll lose weight, and won’t put a strain on your system. Also, get out and do some cardio on a regular basis. Get your blood and muscles going!!!

Have you had your thyroid checked out?
I would strongly recomend you go see a doctor about your reasting heart rate of 100 bpm, this is def not normal.
Get a full blood count and get your doctor and have your thyroid checked out.
Do not start another fast until you get the all clear from your GP.

Most appetite suppressants are stimulants which during a fast causes additional stress on the liver and kidneys. During a fast most people do not feel hungry, but some do like yourself. What is the name of the suppressant you are using?

Thank you for your help and your genuine caring gift.My diet prior to this water fast ( day 6 ), was 90 % raw veg. and fruit w/ very little preservatives in the “bad” food I did eat. My goal is 100 % raw w/ zero preservatives. Of course while on that diet I was still taking the medication. Can I go from a water fast straight to a juice fast? I feel fantastic. I can honestly say I felt little to no discomfort thr first few days of the fast. I believe it is because of my previous diet. GOD bless you ,

thanx keith. i had hyperthyroidism for several months about 10 yrs ago & thought the same thing as i’ve had many other symptoms as well. i’ve been throughly checked out though several times & the dr.’s can’t find a thing wrong with me. they were concerned at first because it’s a sign something is definately wrong. they did all the bloodwork, ekg’s, everything. since they couldn’t find anything wrong, they decided it’s just the way i am. everything checked out so nothing to worry about. i’m on day 2 of my water fast now, back down to 139 lbs again.
ron, i think you are absolutely right! i need to get in shape. i think cardio will make all the difference in the world for me. day 2 feelin fantastic, with lots of energy so i will keep you posted on that.

Sorry to be tough on you but i beleive water fasting is not for you until you stablize, or find out why your 100bpm heart rate is the way it is whilst resting?
The normal rate is 70-80 bpm.
I have looked into this, and you have told me what i did not want to hear about thyroid function.
The thing is about the thyroid, it can be a cat and mouse chase at the start, but once the scales have tipped then you will know about it.
Your Safty comes first to me, and i recomend a juice fast, but if you are head strong then go ahead with your water fast.

I’ve been busy as all heck but thought i’d drop in and say HIII
Hey Nikki, after reviewing the past couple days of conversation I would agree with Keith about postponing your water fast and trying something alittle more gentle first. If you have a thyroid problem that can make things MUCH more difficult. If you plan on juice fasting instead or perhpas trying a more “healing” diet, then here are some good suggestions. First if you’re juicing then it’d be a good idea to eat organic raw egg yolks, perferably the one’s with boosted omega-3s. Raw eggs yolks contain iodine which is the KEY ingrediant for a healthy thyroid. You’ll notice alot of people today have thyroid issues because they don’t have enough (or ANY) iodine in thier system. Now the MAIN source is sea vegetation/seafood. Raw eggs yolks contains about 40%, so 3 raw egg yolks before bedtime would be a great suppliment. Also it’d be best to try and avoid any clorine or floride and any toxic heavy metals like mercury. All of these things end up getting stored in your glands like the thyroid, pituitary and pinneal causing much upset. A Heavy metal cleanse may also help. The Omega-3s act to protect the gland and optimize brain function amonst other things.
Selenium, zinc, and vit A are also potential cures (depending on if you have a deficiency). Honestly i would look into some chia seeds. (I’m going to be trying an experiment in about 7 months on eating nothing but sprouted chia and raw milk to see what happends) Chia has been known to help with thyroid problems since the Mayan times.
Keith, sorry i haven’t yet been on til now. My laptop is still under repairs and prolly won’t be up till this coming Mon. So you’re doing another fast? Best of luck to ya! I’m going to be starting my own shortly, more of an experiment than a cleanse or journey. I’m going to be doing it with a fiber powder to see if bowl movements continue, i’ll keep everyone updated.

Hi Nikki, Some things are hard to diagnose. Unfortunately, all that equipment and knowledge doctors have, is to tell us we’re sick, not what we are lacking! It may be as simple as some sun! Vitamin D is one that is VERY important to staying healthy and energetic. And the sun is one of our only natural sources for D! It is recommended to take a supplement in the winter because the sun produces 0!!!
I usually approach any health issue with a question. Am I doing everything I can to help my body? Am I getting enough: Nutrition, Exercise, and Rest? And I’m always lacking in one! Usually REST!!
After recharging these areas, it takes about 3-6 weeks (for me) to get back to my ideal state. Remember God has given us the ability to heal ourselves in many ways. I am not one to avoid a doctor! I believe God also puts professionals in our path to help us. BUT… I do try to help my doctor rule a lot out by doing everything I can first!
When I am at a loss for reasons, I pray. Then I simplify and change my habits. I am also a believer in exercise as a BIG physical healer!! There is many chemical reactions in our bodies to exercise, and they are all helpful. Exercise will also speed up our recovery, or uncover the problem we have VERY FAST!!
I’m not saying to go out and run a marathon, or pull a barge across the bay with your teeth! Just start a simple program. Even a walk around the block!! But it has to be on a regular basis. Believe me, you won’t regret it!!
One of my best feelings while I’m exercising is trying to remember what the ailment was that nagged me for weeks!!! And…. when “those” areas on your body start to tighten up!! Well, let me say me and my wife have renewed our relationship since we started working out together! And we have 9 kids!! LOL…IT WORKS!

I aint no Doctor, but i do know that a beta blocker will stalalize your heart rate and slow it down, and have you had a [TFT] latley?
Have you maby looked into this, or has any doctor mentioned a beta blocker to you?
Maby this is why you cant get past day 4 on water, anyway we are here to support you no matter what.

I’m not sure how to start my own fasting diary on this page, other than to post a reply. Here is my info at the start of the fast.
I am fasting as of today. I can’t post a picture of myself right now for the diary, not just because of my embarrassingly colossal vanity, but because all images posted on the internet are permanent, and I hope my sick puffy tired present appearance is not. I wasn’t going to fast until after the Xmas season, when I have some time to rest, but I’ve had to do it now. I’m suffering a nasty attack of SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) my third in 2 years, and I’ve bloated up like a hot balloon, and my digestive tract has ground to a complete halt (meaning my light breakfast of yesterday morning was still in my stomach at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and I was belching, bloated and totally nauseous).
The temporary fix for this disorder/infection is antibiotics combined with fasting on an elemental diet formula (Vivonex). I really like vivonex because it has all the amino acids, esp L-glutamine to heal the gut lining, but no sugar to feed pathogenic bacteria/yeasts (unless you add the flavoring), and is somewhere between water and juice as far as calories. It’s very soothing for me. It’s expensive, so I only use 2 packets a day (600 calories), and figure that’s cheaper than eating out, and I don’t yet know how long I will fast. The recommended cure is 2-3 weeks. This year I gained 20 lbs and stopped exercising after a bout of this thing in March.
I want to turn myself around before the start of the new year, so that I can run again next year. I have to find the correct diet for myself, without grains or sugar, because this SIBO is recurring otherwise. It’s really horrible, and I never want to get it again.
I also caught a cold virus in September that never completely cleared up. My ENT wants me tested for Sjogrens disease (a nasty progressive autoimmune disease) which I believe I’ve had for about 4 years now. Because my body doesn’t produce much mucus or fluids anymore, the bacteria and waste doesn’t get flushed out, and that causes cycling infections. I suspect a lifelong wheat/yeast allergy that is at the bottom of all this. I lump those two together because they apparently attach to the gut wall identically, and produce intense inflammation in some people. That sucks when you love bread & beer as much as I do!! When I finish the fast, I will have to radically alter my diet, and that’s where I’ll really need support. I am very very weak in this area. A “paleolithic” diet is recommended, with the removal of dairy, sugars, and possibly all grains.
Overwhelming. One step at a time. So today, I am puffy, apprehensive (tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I have to contribute some of the cooking, as well as disguise the fact that I’m not eating. Or maybe not – my in-laws are already convinced I’m a nut. They probably wouldn’t even notice strange behavior from me!) and sick & tired of being sick & tired. I like Vivonex very much without the sugary flavor packets. I just add fresh lemon juice and stevia. The biggest obstacle: raging horrific hunger pangs that hit me between 12-48 hours, the shaking from low blood sugar always combined with a vicious irritable feeling, sometimes lasting hours. I have to leave the house and go for a walk – but this neighborhood is full of bars and predominantly mexican restaurants, so I have to walk fast to outpace the rich, savory fat-laden smells that are torture on a fast.
Up til now – it has always eventually broken me down. That, and cooking for the kids. They will have to have TV dinners (which they prefer anyway) while I get well. I have to do this. If I make it three weeks on the Vivonex – I want to go to plain water. I have fat on my body where I have never seen it before – on my lower legs. I am posting my physical measurements now – and will again hopefully when I complete the fast, because it is requested and I want to record the transformation, and also because this makes my fast an official commitment.
My waist has almost the same circumference as my hips, because of the large amount of abdominal fat that has formed over the last 6 months and is no doubt churning out cortisol, and various inflammatory and depressive hormones and chemicals, in response to a life that has become highly stressed and completely negative. And the bloating, from longstanding IBS with this SIBO infection.
Don’t tell anybody – but I (who just a year ago was training hard hoping to join an elite women’s racing team) now have a waist measurement of 34″, hips 36″, ribs (right below bra band) 31.25″, and upper thigh, 23″. It’s been a very bad year for me, but hopefully it will soon be over, the tide of strength and luck will change and I will be back up and running in the near future.

Thanx Keith I appreciate that! My most recent thyroid function test was during my first water fast back in Aug. & everything was working as it should. My liver & kidney function were checked & working fine also, despite how terrible I felt. I really thought I was dying, lol. I never told the dr. I was fasting & he concluded that I had some sort of flu-bug lol – no, they didn’t bother testing me for flu, lol.
. I broke my fast again last night, btw. Being the cook today & tomorrow I will have to taste stuff anyway to see if it’s done, or if I need to add anything, etc. When it’s all said & done, I will have 1 bite of everything for dinner tomorrow & begin my water fast after dinner tomorrow night. This time I will see it through! I do have 1 more question for you. On your page you mention different stages of cleansing during a fast. How long does each one take? How will I be able to tell when the cleansing is complete & I’m done?
I finally found a link for your website, very insightful! I found a lot of helpful info under your water fasting tab. You really did your research. So I’m guessing right about day 3 my body goes into a healing crisis which is pretty unbearable for me, especially with 3 kids to take care of. It felt as though it kept getting worse, so I thought it would continue to get worse. Breaking my fasts at this stage is the worst thing I could’ve done & probably negates any of the benefits of fasting in the first place. I should’ve pushed through & let my body heal itself. It’s ok though, I still get to try again
Oh yeah, & to answer your question, I don’t know what a beta blocker is, but I took an rx called propylthiouricel or ptu for short. It was 10 yrs ago now that I had hyperthyroidism during my last pregnancy & it only lasted a few months, never to return. I’ve been checked several times since, due to symptoms. My thyroid & everything else is always functioning normally. I’m probably just sick with decades worth of toxins built up in my body. I’m so looking forward to how great I’m going to feel after I complete my fast! Following Thanksgiving is the perfect time too, as the kids will have plenty of leftovers so I shouldn’t have to cook for awhile

I stopped my water fast last night after 2 days. I’m starting again tomorrow night. This time I’m going to push through the horrid healing crisis & complete my fast. It’s the perfect time, the kids will have lots of thanksgiving leftovers to keep them fed for awhile. So they will be taken care of & I will have more time to be sick -I mean heal :p. It’s going to be rough but I know now that it won’t last forever. I’m so excited for how healthy I’m going to be when I finish! I know it’s going to be really bad before it can get better & I’m ready! I’m so thankful for all the support I get here. I’m definately going to need it to get through this!

Yeah, she is on the same juice/veg as me! I have done a water fast before and unfortunately had the same problem, for some reason, the hunger does not go away. I live in Mauritius so will see what I can find in the way of herbal suppresants. I really don’t like to take any of these diet medications but would rather do that than break my fast.

Would you not be better going on a straight water fast?
If you were alt between the 2 then raw greens in a blender instead of juice might be the way to go as some juices will irritate the bowel?

Unfortunately blended green juices would cause a lot of trouble, because with the SIBO going on you have to avoid fiber (which is recommended for IBS). It is a gut motility issue, and fiber that is not moving through your system feeds bacteria and causes agonizing bloat. This is my problem – all these niggling illnesses whose cures seem to worsen each other. The third annoying problem that has prevented me from sticking to a water fast is hypoglycemia – if I am more than 8 hours w/out some sort of nourishment, (sometimes less) I’m not just ravenously hungry – I’m shaking violently and feeling quite vicious and ready to start eating my children!!!
I can’t seem to get past that point. And yes, most juice is either too sugary or bitter and foul tasting. So I’m trying the Vivonex hoping my body adjusts its demands for regular glucose, and in 2 weeks I want to try water fasting. I just need to have the faith that it will be good for me personally. I see here people that swear by it, but they don’t have my particular “issues”.
I’ve read over & over that if you are fairly well nourished you can go weeks w/out nourishment – but what if you are already deficient in vitamins/minerals because of a disorder? And what happens to the dysfunctional bowel after it’s shut down and “rebooted” by a water fast? Will it be all better? The same dysbiosis back again? WORSE??? I’ve read medical abstracts about healing the bowel through fasting (usually to control cancer) and it describes the atrophy of the gut lining during fasting as if it’s not such a good idea. How can your gut lining heal if it’s atrophying? (Hence the Vivonex with its glutamine) Successful fasters seem to instinctively know what their body can handle and how to reintroduce food after a fast…but my instincts on a fast just scream “pizza and BEER, pizza and BEER!!!”
So I guess my biggest fears are my gut problems being even worse after fasting, my hair falling out (and not growing back), and failing and going binge-wild at any moment. I guess that’s fairly normal, but right now I have nothing to lose but 20 lbs and maybe my hair, which is already thin.

Firstly, start taking probiotics daily. Make your your intestinal culture is healthy. You conditions make fasting more difficult but not impossible. You need to have some glucose so what about a herbal tea with honey. You need to find what juice works for you, if any. The best thing for you colon is to shut is down and let it heal.

I know that’s true. But these disorders of the gut, as well as some of the autoimmune diseases are said to have a strong psychological component and have been linked to certain “all or nothing” personalities, and extreme stress very early in life. I do have a psychiatrist that is covered by my insurance whom I like very much – but we chat like buddies during our infrequent sessions, (which still cost $25 + an hour’s drive) and I helped to “counsel” him through a very public crazy divorce. He is not resolving my psyche issues.
I suspect that of equal importance with the fasting would be some intensive therapy and meditation, so that the IBS remains under control after the fast. I just have no idea where to get this or how I could afford such a thing. I am going to work with my doctor and see if I can do something like this.

I am drinking about 3 glasses of water a day and have had really no symptoms of detox like I have read about except yesterday and today I have been really bloated and today I have been experiencing heartburn. Is that normal and why is that happening?
Hi tessa, Everyones system is different. It may take up to 10 days or more before you start deeply detoxing. You also may not be so toxic as to make you sick. 3 glasses of water per day is fine. Just take what you feel you need. The water is not what cleans your system, it’s your body’s natural cleansing ability.
Heatburn is common during fasting. Your digestive system still produces small amounts of acid for antibacterial protection for your body. I had GERD (acid reflux desease) for years that was cured through a 30 day fast!

Have a look at your toungue to see if there is a white coating on it.
Have you taken an enema yet? there will be waste lying inside you even after you have stopped eating.
There was still waste inside my intestines after 21 days i took a salt water flush on day 3-4 to flush out the colone and intestines and felt mutch better, but this is not everyones cup of tea, you can try herbal enemas or buy oral enemas from the chemist.

You will also know if your body needs more water by the differant colours of your urine, if your urine is brown then your body is dehydrating, the clearer your urine is the more hydrated you are. Even on a juice fast you must take in water to.

What do you mean about herbal enemas? This that the laxative tea I see in the health stores? And how do I do a salt water flush?
I finished the 7 day fast and made it all the way to the end. I lost 14 pounds over the week but I was quite dehyrdated and gained 9 lbs back over the following week.
Tomorrow I am beginning another 7 day fast and planning to drink more water during it and I plan on doing a 14 day fast in Jan.

My “First 10 Day “Water Fast Diary”
Tue 21st “July 2008.
Day 1…I arose early this morning, knowing that today was the start of my water fast, i had mentally prepaired myself 2 days prior.
I read up on the benifits of water fasting ie…”Mind, Body, and Spiritually.”
Cleansing the body of “Toxins.
There is also the added factor of rapid waight loss.
Through out this first day, i have been constantly plagued by a rumbling stomach, and hunger cravings,food is allways on my mind
It is now 1.30am, i have battled the cravings and time to end my first fast day.
Day 2…i have awoken with a bit of a soar head, and the cravings for food are worse now, but i am drinking pleanty of water.
i walked 2 miles today, not sure if that was a good idea.
4pm i fell asleep for a coupple of hours, when i awoke i was so hungry.”I managed to stave off the hunger by reading a book.
My water intake is around 3 liters a day.
I stayed up until 2am, went to bed still with food cravings.
Day 3…I couldnt sleep last night, even though i was really tired.
I got up at 9.30am,I felt as though i had been hit by a bus,i feel really drained today, the hunger is subsiding, but i am a bit shaky.
later in the day i walked about 4 miles. I really dont how i maneged that !
I think that i am starting to find hidden abilities through weakness, i think that when you are at your weakest thats when you start to become stronger, maby thats why i started this fast….amongst other things, iv noticed that i am starting to feel a bit more peacefull.
Went to bed late, not really that hungry.
Day 4…I awoke at 7am, still having sleeping problems, when i did sleep i was dreaming about food.
I am starting to notice some improvement on my skin, i have noticed i feel a bit bloated,
I looked up the net about being bloated, so i have decided to take a salt water flush, 4 teaspoons of salt to 1 ltr water and drink all at once,
Its 8pm i have taken the salt enema….YUK…”This has to be the most revolting thing iv taken in my life,
“Later on the “Hevens opened up !
It has taken 1hour 40mins to work through my system, and is not nice.
Went to bed at 12.
Day 5…I have had a great sleep last night, this morning i feel energized, with feelings of being more a peace within myself,i feel as though i have a bounce in my step today, but i have niticed that my kidneys are soar today, but nothing really painfull.
Tonight i will be trying something new, “Meditating a 1st for me.
Its now 11 pm, i have “Meditated and found it to be very relaxing. I feel my “Mind body and, “Spirit are moving back into balance, its a really strange feeling, over the last 5 days i have been trying to heal myself from the inside out, and it is trully working, over the years, i have tryed to heal myself from the outside in, this was to no avail,
This is an amazing learning, and healing experience for me.
Its 1am now and time to finish another day.
Day 6…This morning i feel really refreshed and started praying to “God for guidance in my life, i feel so peacefull, almost to the extent of being closer to “God, this is the first time i have felt this, in a very long time.
This is similar feelings to when i was baptised, in the sea 4 years previously. I broke down crying, before i was baptised, but had the same “Spiritual peace within.
11pm, my reflection over today, my life is really changing, my water intake, is about 3-4 liters.
Time to end another day.
Day 7…This morning i feel fine, energy levels seem to be dropping a little bit, but nothing i cannot handle.This is an amazing experiance for me.
11pm i have been reading my bible today quite a lot and reflecting on my past, i am definitally getting deeper into myself and my veiws on lots of things.
End of day 7.
Day 8…This morning i awoke with a feeling of well being, food is the furthast from my thoughts, i have been starting to get cold hands,so iv made an appointement to see the doctor to have a check up,
3 pm back from the doctors, and given the all clear so thats good.
9pm my last log for tonight; iv been feeling cold lately, so iv cranked the heating up to keep warm, when walking long journeys i get breathless so i have to rest more.
Day 9…Real peace is now really hitting me, I have never felt like this before.
7pm I am thinking and reflecting now a lot ! I am even starting to think lots more on the childreen in other countrys still srarving to death,
I think now that i am closer with the inner “Spirit.
1am.. I have been lost in thaught all day.Past emotions are starting to surface,
tomorrow is my last day on water
Day 10…Its finally here,my last day on water, tonight i will finish with an salt enema.
11pm my final reflection !…this has been such a journey for me and glad i held on for this 10 days on water alone, i will do this again in the future, i have cleaned some of the cobwebs from the closet and more “Spiritually at peace with myself, and others.
This was a daily account of my very first water fast in 2008.

Hi All, Ditto Maximus what Keith says! We are a family through fasting, and our Good Lord!
I also have a fasting story!
I usually fast one week a month, and on my last fast I took my family to a hockey game. This was the first time I went to a big event during a fast. I don’t want to subject myself to temptations, or my family to my “fasting mode”(I’ll explain later). Anyway, a friend gave me 6, second row tickets to a Bruins game, which in itself was a real treat! Except for the 300+ guy that sat next to me all night!
I brought the 5 youngest girls of my nine children, and of course none of them wanted to sit besides the “fat guy”! So, I got that honor! LOL
Well, if you are familiar with fasting, at day six your senses are pretty keen…uh…VERY KEEN!! Especially your sense of smell. I’ll bet you are getting the picture here huh? Not only were the aromas of hot dogs, pizza, beer, peanuts and popcorn evident in the air, and all over this guys shirt and lap…..but also my “big friends” cologne had given out several hours before the game began! Not to mention half his body was spilling over his seat on to me!!
Needless to say, my patience was as thin as my stomach at this point. My family is very aware of my “fasting mode”, and they mostly DON’T mess with me! LOL, Just when I was ready to clobber this blubber with his plate of bangers…my little, lovely, 6 year old daughter says: “Daddy do you want to change seats?”
Well my friends….Gina could melt the heart of an executioner! And I could “almost” hug the guy next to me after that!! I happily……well…. I endured the remainder of the eating…..uh…..I mean evening! LOL
Moral of the story? STAY HOME WHEN FASTING!! Or at least don’t go to a very large, food filled event, with big people feasting, instead of FASTING!! God Bless, Ron

My daughter is turning 11 this week & I’m having a huge party for her at Chuck E. Cheese Pizza on Saturday. I love their pizza & I get to buy lots of it! I get to sit there & look at it & smell it too, so wish me luck! Also please pray for me that I’m not too sick to take my baby to her own birthday party. She also wants me to make her some homemade pies for her birthday – it won’t be easy right now. I was going to make them tomorrow & let her have that on Thurs, her actual birthday & buy a cake to take to the actual party on Sat. I might have to try & get that over with today. I’m starting to not feel very good & experience has taught me that tomorrow will only be worse.
My children lost their father in a motorcycle accident on the 4th of July 07. It finally caught up to my poor little Hannah the other day after 2 1/2 yrs! She had a meltdown & cried for her dad for the 1st time. She said her birthdays were miserable without him. She was also upset because her 4 yr old cousin has a birthday 2 weeks after her & always has these huge parties with lots of guests & gifts. Nobody ever comes to Hannah’s birthday party except me & her 2 siblings & sometimes her aunt with aforementioned cousin. So I had to do something special for her this time. I’ve been homeschooling them for a year now & they don’t have many friends. So I got my sister to help me plan Hannah’s party. My sister even found Hannah at least 20 guests. Even though they are all strangers except for her aunt & little cousins, she couldn’t be more excited. It won’t be the easiest time for me to do it, but I have to for my baby because she’s worth it & she deserves it. So please keep me in your prayers as Saturday approaches, that I’m done being sick by then & well enough to go out.

The only thing i have to say, is stay strong, i cooked nearly every day for family, they could not believe my streanth and mind power on my fast.
My reasons were differant from yours, more severe, not to blow my trumpet.
I wish everyone could find the peace through fasting as i have.
Sometimes i do get annoyed by comments, but then i look back to the way i was, this is the place i found compassion, even when i look at wrong words, said by others and myself .
Im only here to try and help others.

Hi Nikki, I lost a 17 year old sister, and several friends to motorcycle accidents. I’m a rider myself. We don’t know God’s plan for us and just have to trust, and love. It’s always hardest on the children, and tougher to explain. All we can do is pray. I, and my family will keep you, and your family in our prayers that God will heal and keep you.

There aren’t many situations we haven’t dealt with and may be able to help.
I find smaller events, that I have control over during fasting easier to deal with. Last summer, we had a b’day party for 2 of my daughters. I was on week 3, of a 30 day fast and was able to cook, and actually have a good time! I find that mental re-enforcement helped me through. I kept saying to myself (besides prayers): [ I've tasted all these foods before, and know what they taste like. These foods were here long before my fast, and will be here long after my fast. I will be able to eat any of these foods anytime I want, after my fast.]
It’s really amazing. I was able to not only cope, but actually enjoy the smells, and cooking process! So, I basically willed myself to enjoy the simplicity of the moment, rather than feeling deprived of what I didn’t have! Hope this helps some?

Ron, thank you so much for everything! I’m so touched by all your help. The kids & I still love to go for rides anytime we can con someone into taking us. We definately undertand the appeal there! I just started taking the kids to the church I grew up attending. It gets us out of the house & is really helping. I’m also going to be signing the kids up for sports next month. This along with church should really help them socially. I expect they will be much happier & not so lonely. Knowing that I’ve eaten it all before & I’ll get to eat it all again after my fast really helps – that & prayer. As I get a little further into my fast I find that I can actually feel full off the sight & smell of food. I took a saltwater flush yesterday & oh my goodness,I was so hungry by the end of the day! Only by the grace of God did I get past it. I ended up eating an ice cube before bed. I almost felt guilty because it does feel like eating. I had another today & I find it to be a safe effective way to cheat, lol. It doesn’t break the fast. After all, it’s still just water, but it’s solid so you can eat it. I’m probably a terrible influence to other fasters reading this as I’m sure chewing ice is bad for teeth. I found it to be pretty satisfying for me though. Last night I had nightmares where I kept eating & drinking everything I could find & kept actively looking for more. I felt so guilty in my dream for breaking my fast. I was so thankul when I woke up & realized it was just a bad dream. I think it is pretty neat though how even in my dream my concience still told me it was wrong.
p.s. 15+ years of homeschooling?? Please tell your wife she is my hero! I’m worse about school than my kids are, lol. Hopefully I’ll find my groove soon & get better at it.
Does anyone know what happens if you drink a cup of herbal tea on a water fast? I know that juice slows the cleasing process because it is actually food. It’s just in liquid form. I don’t really know what to consider tea. It’s not food, but it’s not really plain water either.. So it would probably be breaking a water fast to drink tea?? Does anyone know?

Hi Nikki, Herbal Tea is fine! No sugar, or dairy of course. I would use it in the evening before bed as a treat for my “goodness” all day! LOL I put a teaspoon of honey in. The herbs and honey could almost be considered a supplement, which are fine to take during a fast too! Although, you should test anything first, as you may have a negative reaction to supplements during a water fast. As with anything moderation is the key. And YOU rule the fast, not the other way around!!
Exercising is also a nice diversion from fasting! Just keep it simple, and scheduled. You’ll look forward to it once you get going!!
My wife was a school teacher before we married and had kids, so it has come a little easier. Hope she didn’t hear me say “easier” ! LOL I’ll get a fry pan over my noggin!
We joined the YMCA, and the kids do belly dancing, swimming, and all sorts of activities! We also joined a Catholic home schooling group. They have a lot of kid functions, like plays and picnics etc. It’s been great for socializing.

They are already excited for summer when Moriah my oldest can play volleyball, Hannah can go to cheer camp & Brandon my youngest can go to lego camp. Lego camp is a misleading name,they’ll be working will gears & pulleys, build a car, a robot, motors, etc. I’m sure I will find so much more for them to get involved in once I get down there & see what all they have to offer. All I found online is the seasonal stuff.
I should try & find a homeschooling group! I live in a huge city, so it shouldn’t be too hard?
I wanted this to be a water only fast, but I do have Yogi fasting tea. It’s supposed to help healthy liver & kidney function. So it seems like only good could come of it? I don’t think tea has any calories & I would probably throw up if I added any kind of sweetener or anything else to it, just the tea bag & hot water. So maybe I will give it a try? Just 1 cup a day at bedtime.. I was just worried tea would be breaking my fast. As for exercise, I was planning on at least stretching daily. It hasn’t happened yet. I carried groceries up my 3 flights of stairs today though. I have a difficult time being real active because I get dizzy so much. Taking 1 knee helps, til I get back up, lol. I’m doing better than expected today though. I went grocery shopping, cooked the kids lunch, made Hannah’s birthday pies & now I’m going to go cook them dinner. Poor kids usually have to fend for themselves when I’m fasting, as I rarely get out of bed because I get so sick. I wasn’t going to make any posts on here before day 5 for fear of jinxing myself & never making it that far. I repeated day 1 three times this time. I’m wrapping up day 3 now & so far, so good!

You are a much more devoted mother than I am!! I simply cannot continue to fast if I have to deal with food too much – I start to obsess about it, then I get starved – and then my fast is doomed! It takes a person with an iron will to cook with good cheer while fasting…my will on a fast is cheap plastic at best. This time around- I am not going to be in the kitchen except to keep it more or less clean. So far, it has made all the difference. I have not felt any hunger at all so far, and don’t think much about not eating. My kids are happy with tv dinners and pizza and sandwiches and simple meals they can fix for themselves. Also, my husband takes them out for a bite to eat on the weekends sometimes. We’ve agreed not to fast at the same time, so that one of us can deal with meals.
This time I’m only going to start this fast ONCE!! Here’s to sailing through day four!

Hi Once, it’s kind of a trade off. I cook healthy meals for them & do very little else. The kids are doing all the cleaning these couple of days until I’m feeling a little better & stronger. They are 13, 11 & 9 yrs old. The way I see it, that’s plenty old enough for them to learn how to clean up after themselves.
I’ve kind of been on a health kick the past couple of years & I’m very picky with grocery shopping. I’m learning to make more & more foods homemade from scratch. The thought of poisoning the bodies of my innocent little children with the standard american diet makes me ill. Especially since I’m having such a hard time detoxing from all that garbage I’ve filled my body with over the years & my kids are still too young to clean it up with fasting. I’m actually fasting to build my relationship with God, but the health benefits are a very nice side effect. Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not perfect but I’m doing the best I can. The food options are getting pretty scary. I only wish I could grow my own everything – beef, dairy, eggs, chicken, veggies, fruit, even herbs. That’s not exactly practical right now, but hopefully someday! I would try buying fresh fruits & veggies for the family. It’s so easy to throw it into a salad, or just wash up for them to snack on, not to mention very healthy. Maybe your hubby could help? Every so often, I will cook up a turkey just for lunch meat – much better than the processed, chemical laden stuff you find in the store. You just wash it & stick it in the oven & it cooks itself. I always use the turkey bags for mine. It makes your turkey really moist & delicious & it cooks in about half the time. I’m so happy you have a husband that can help you!
My kids are actually learning to make pretty healthy food choices for themselves – I’m so proud of them! My daughter Hannah turns 11 tomorrow. Would you believe she asked me to make her a homemade pumpkin pie for her birthday rather than buy cake & ice cream? No added sugar except whats in the condensed milk, just vegetable (the pumpkin) instead of birthday cake.. Church is awful about constantly throwing candy bars at the kids. My kids give theirs away, all on their own. Their so smart! Are they great or what? Sorry to go on like that, but what parent isn’t proud of their kids?
I’m also on day 4. Been in bed most of the day. I only got up to get the kids dinner. That & I have to pee ALL THE TIME. I had to get up every hour or 2 through the night to go. This doesn’t make sense to me since I’m certain I’m dehydrated. I’ve been drinking about 2 – 4 cups of water a day. Also, my urine is foamy. Sorry to be so graphic, but does anyone know if that’s bad? I’ve been a lot sicker today, hence all the time spent in bed. I’m pretty nauseas & I have such a headache, that & I’m a little dizzier. I’m actually really surprised I haven’t started throwing up yet. Usually that wakes me up on day 3. I am nauseas though, so I have a bucket next my bed just in case.

Hi Nikki, I’m not angry today, just cold and stiff and disoriented. I was in an evening class and I got these agonizing foot cramps – had to take my boot off and grab my foot during the lecture…real cool. I read about this kind of thing. I get odd twinges in my kidneys, and my whole body is generally sore, joints really stiff. I don’t like it. My body is trying to force me to rest, but there’s too much I have to do right now…if I can just make it to Friday I’ll be alright Tomorrow I have NERT training from 8:30 to 5:30 then class across town from 6:30 to nine thirty. Dunno how I’m going to make it at this point. Had better pack a flask of hot tea and honey, and on the lunch hour find some carrot juice somewhere for energy.
Urine certainly does get weird on a fast…mine sometimes becomes very “thick” and once there was a mass of red mucus in it. Instead of getting repulsed by it – I thought-There it is, that may have been the beginning of a bladder cancer I’m not going to get now! You must be flushing salts and fats and impurities from your system. I can’t eat the Chuck E Cheese Pizza-I find it extremely salty. I hope your girl has a wonderful day and enjoys her pumpkin pie. i have an 11 year old daughter as well, loves gymnastics, plays violin and loves snakes and spiders.
My face looks strained and pallid and wrinkly. My skin is drying out. Don’t like that either…but I’m going to persevere until my eyes clear and I feel spiritual and until my clothes fit again!! What is the longest you’ve fasted Nikki?
This is the longest I’ve fasted. Praise God I finally made it to day 5! Thanks to everyone’s prayers & the grace of God! I’ve attempted a few times now, but could never get through day 4. I usually get so sick that I think I’m dying, but I’m still here! I still haven’t thrown up yet, still nauseas with a headache. I’m really thirsty but I think the water is upsetting my stomach.
I’m still going as well! This has been a rough day for a fast. Nine straight hours of NERT training (class req), stumbling on & off buses, going back across town7 followed by a lecture, then a three hour class with a final exam. I fell in the road during the lunchtime and couldn’t save myself. My reflexes have been turned off, and my 40lb backpack full of water and textbooks came down on top of me. There was a huge white truck turning the corner and coming right at me and it wasn’t slowing down, so I tried to break into a trot, and the next thing I know, the road was coming toward my face fast, and then I was down but I kept travelling until I had thoroughly skinned myself! For a while, while I was going into stores trying to find some ice – I felt more than a little loony. So I have skinned palms and a swollen leg. By the time my class started this evening, I felt so horrible-just slumped in my seat with my eyes buggingI just wanted to lie down under my desk, and it seemed like such a good idea. I had to buy a coffee and added some sugar (which I never do) just to stay upright. Gave me cramps and a headache, and now I finally made it home I can’t sleep! but I got through it all. I really want to slow down and rest, This crazyness is miserable with no energy, I just want to stay here and sleep and rest and lose some weight, It seems to go at the rate of a half a pound every day, and heal my heart and my guts and my neckaches,

I am on some sort of stupid semi-fast, involving an elemental formula powder, for people who can’t digest – blah blah blah, etc it’s all in a long-winded self-involved post above this somewhere. I will try to water fast when the powder is all gone in a couple of days. I’m having a hard time at the moment – I feel very angry and hateful. I can’t stand the kids or my bedroom or myself or anything or anybody. I have tried meditation, but the feeling comes right back when I get up. Is there any protocol on how long this might last? I was hoping for spiritual enlightenment and love of my fellow everybody. I just want to blow up!!

You will have moments like this, you have a lot of built up anger inside you.
The only way to release this is by venting your anger into a pillow, might sound stupid but it works.
The other option is just to let go of your feelings and accept them for what they are. I dont know that much about you but i accept you for who you are.
Expect tears on your fast, this is good for healing to.

I like Enigma. I’ve just had some herb tea with about 4 tbsp of honey (the squeeze-bottle was making hilarious noises so I kept squeezing – cheered me up)…I feel a little better. My blood sugar must be really low – or I’m a hopeless sugar addict. Either way – more honey!!!

I was planning to fast 10 – 11 days on water, then a 3 day dry fast, then another 10 – 11 days on water, then at least a week on juice. I’m too thirsty for a dry fast now though. So I’m going to continue my water fast through Wednesday (11 days), then move on to juice fasting beggining next thursday & continue at least a week before moving on to raw veggies & fruit. At least this is what I’m hoping.

I have never tryed dry fasting and can not give advice on this, i however have read about it.
Maby if you dry fasted at the start of your fast then this would have been benificial for water retention.
One of my friends dry fasted 3 days before a competition, body building and nearly ended up in hospital.

I have dry fasted for 2 days before. I found it to be the easiest fast for me – easier than water fasting. juice fasting is next to impossible for me because it makes me so hungry. Just like you are supposed to ease into water fasting by starting with juice – when I first tried this, I started day 1 over about 40 times lol, it did not work for me. You are also supposed to ease into dry fasting by starting with a water fast a couple days – I haven’t tried this & probably won’t. When I dry fasted before, I went straight from solid foods into my dry fast. Probably not the healthiest way to go, but it worked for me & was actually the easiest fast I’ve ever done. I tried to start my fasts off right at the beginning of the year, following Tom’s recommendations. A couple days of just raw veggies & fruit, followed by a few days of juice, followed by water, then dry fast, then water again, then juice, then raw fruit & veggies again, then reintroduce other healthy foods slowly. Going into my fast this way hasn’t worked for me, but I’m certainly going to try to end it the recommended way. I don’t think I can dry fast this time though, I get thirstier all the time.
Good morning
I haven’t lost very much weight at all. maybe four lbs. but my shape is changing. For months I’ve had a big heavy bloated belly that was hanging down and forward, and because it always hurt, my posture was very bad, giving me tension headaches.
It was all but gone when I woke up this morning. I was aImost straight across from hip to hip! I have zero energy but I feel physically mechanically so much better, more light and balanced. I don’t think I ever want to eat solid food again, because I know the bloating and pain would come right back!
My journey is about more than losing 10 lbs. I have so much pain and anger backed up – from early in life and the dam is starting to break. I don’t think I’m sane. On a fast my emotions are completely out of controI which the English in me HATES and I don’t like the way people look at me while I’m unstable like this. They get that “Oh dear – this woman’s not right” expression and they kind of step backwards…that happened yesterday. When I took the spill in the road and skinned myself I was weeping and wailing harder than my seven year old!! I couldn’t stop it! I was wandering down the street like this! Any excuse, it seems. It was horrible.
I wish I could just stop my daily grind, step away for awhile and finally move through this. I am not sure how to handle myself in public-when anything could cause me to lose composure, which also really upsets my husband. He gets totally upset with “out of control”. I have never fasted this long before-in two years of trying. I’d be proud of myself, except that I haven’t wanted to eat at all. For the first time that’s been easy. Maybe it’s time for me to move on.
Talk to me Tom-I know you had emotional baggage in the beginning-how long did it take until it dissolved away? (or maybe that’s a naive concept)

It’s sounds as if you have a lot on your plate! Pardon the pun. It also sounds like you are unhappy with yourself, and searching for something. I was wondering how your spiritual life is? I haven’t heard a mention of God, or any spiritual aspirations.
I don’t like to push religion on anyone, so don’t feel pressured here. I think you need to turn to God. With God you don’t feel the desparation, anger and hopelessness that you are displaying here. I realize that you have many problems, as we all do from time to time. But, complaining and giving up are not ways to solve them.
As I said, I don’t know your spiritual state. But I am willing to help you. And most importantly pray for you, and your situation. I just need a confirmation from you, that you believe and have hope. Because without those faithful admissions, it is not possible to get help from the grace of God.
I have seen many miracles through God in my life. Some situations much worse than yours. Faith, and prayer are very, very powerful to those who use it, and believe. God Bless, my prayers and support are with you. Ron

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps God is already helping me. This fast is definitely being assisted. No cravings or hunger have touched me yet (except when my daughter put down a plate of hot pizza under my nose very briefly). I am trying to get an idea of the process of fasting and spiritual cleansing from those that have been through it. Since I don’t live alone I cannot rest and meditate and heal the way I’d like to. For those of us with stress and responsibilities it might take longer, with more stops and starts. This page is a diary that charts my progress, and keeps me honest. The fact that I am still trying after 2 years and so far succeeding proves that I do not give up. I am dealing with this stuff right now so that I don’t have to feel sick anymore.
I am tough as nails – I have raised six kids. I am a child of God as are we all, who got sick and lost my gifts. I want to get strong and well, and take them back. Cleaning yourself out can apparently be somewhat painful!! I feel much better when I’m alone.

Well I made it to day 6! Feeling good today but really weak. I have to sit down in the shower & lay down immediately after to catch my breath – sad I know, but that’s where I’m at, lol. Other than not being able to stand for more than a minute, I feel great. I’m in a good mood today & happy but I must be irritable or something? I find myself snapping at my kids over the littlest things. I think I’m over it now, I hope? I’m having a harder & harder time sleeping. I lay there awake tossing & turning all night. My weight loss has slowed. I was losing 3 lbs every day until today. Since yesterday I’ve lost 1.5 lbs – so half what I’ve been losing. I’ve lost 13.5 lbs so far on my fast & my measurements are smaller but I feel fatter. Right at the middle of my belly I’ve actually gained an inch, but lost inches everywhere else. What is going on there?
I’ve heard of people getting energy bursts on a fast. I can’t understand how that’s possible when the body has no fuel?
Once, I am so impressed you can still walk down the street! I barely made it up my 3 flights of stairs to my apt last night lol – I’m such a wuss, I know..

It’s not wuss-like to be weak when your blood is receiving no sugars at all! We weren’t designed for it – and it usually takes some practice to handle it. I can’t get up the stairs either! I ran up my front steps after walking the kids to the school bus and nearly blacked out! I keep forgetting to move more slowly. I don’t want to resort to coffee anymore, and since the next two weeks will be physically and mentally demanding for me until everybody’s out of school and my training sessions and exams are over (not to mention all the Christmas shopping [groan], and wrapping [grrrooooaaaan] I think I will take some carrot/spinach/dandelion juice, diluted with half water a couple of times a day, to keep my blood sugar and my body off the ground!
Right after Christmas, when everything (hopefully!!) settles down I will try to go back to water fasting, and sleep my butt off for a couple of weeks!! Meanwhile, if you have to run around, I recommend Smart Water, which has electrolytes but nothing else in it. I went through the snapping at the kids thing. I think it’s extremely low blood sugar, which we’re not used to. I believe we can train ourselves to handle it better after a couple of these fasts. It’ll get easier, I hope. I think the dandelion leaves added to my juice will get rid of some retained fluids-it’s a great cleanser/diuretic. At the farmer’s market on Saturdays-I have to show up early because the Greeks and Russians buy up all of it! They know what’s good for ‘em. It’s just so bitter!!!
Thanks for your encouragement Nikki, and I want to encourage you as well. You’re doing really great! By resting and fasting now-you are preventing future illnesses and insuring that your kids have you around in good shape for a really long time.

Pretty pathetic I am getting. It actually makes sense to me, but I’ve never heard of anyone else experiencing this level of weakness? You all can still do so much, it really amazes me! So I made spaghetti for dinner & it looks so yummy! I also really want the leftovers from before. I’m trying so hard to stay strong. Good thing God is full of miracles or I’d never make it! Hopefully, he’ll get me through this, I sure won’t make it through the night without him! I can make spaghetti again after my fast & it will be even better then! Right Ron?
So does anyone have any idea why my belly would be getting bigger while the rest of me is getting smaller & I’m losing so much weight? I took 2 swf’s since starting my water fast so I should be all cleaned out?

I can only guess about the belly thing: 1) If you have spent a lot of time in bed recently-your abdominal muscles have probably gone very slack-it only takes a couple of days, or 2) your colon is nearly empty which allows for more gas to build up. I honestly couldn’t do a swf on a water fast-salt is brutal. You’re pretty tough. I’m feeling pretty cranky right now-I have a nasty headache-my husband is ill and my fingers are crossed that it isn’t swine flu-we can’t get that til after xmas! We were both awake with his coughing. And there is a huge pile of books beside me to study and my brain’s not on today. I wanna flop around and watch movies. I had a little vegetable juice yesterday, all the pulp strained out, and diluted with water, and my neck/headache went away for a while and I had a little energy, but it awakened hunger & thoughts of food. Fasting is so precarious for us beginners.
Tom says don’t think of a particular food while you’re fasting. For me, cooking and smelling and focusing on spaghetti or anything else would be the beginning of the end! Try to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible for a mother.

Day 7! Praise The Lord! So I tossed & turned all night again, still can’t sleep. About 1am I actually threw a tantrum that could put a 2 yr old to shame. Then I just cried & continued with my tantrum. My spaghetti craving finally passed – sounds pretty sick now lol. I also lost that extra inch. My tummy is nice & flat now
. My hip bones stick out farther than my tummy. It’s been awhile since I’ve experienced that, I’m super excited! Must’ve been retained water? My face is looking pretty terrible, I’ve been breaking out for a few days now. I’ve been pretty itchy the past few days too – hands, arms, chest, legs. No rashes or anything, just itchy. I’m still really weak. I was barely able to stand long enough to brush my teeth this morning. I’m full of energy, my body just can’t do anything about it, lol. Guess this is what they meant when they talked about fasting highs? & I was hoping I’d be able to run in marathons during this time! Or at least stand long enough to brush my teeth, lol.

Everyone out there fasting, hang in there! It gets better, I promise. If you fall off the fasting wagon, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just dust yourself off & try again. Before my first fast I must have repeated day 1 at least 40 days in a row, lol. It’s from our failures that we learn to succeed.

AGHHH! The power went out here and now I can’t concentrate. Nikki-you’re lucky! I actually PUT BACK a pound overnight-lowering my total weight loss to 5 lbs again. That must have been the 6 oz. of juice yesterday. My body is so amazing it can turn 200 calories into a POUND. One good meal of course, and I’d get the 5 lbs back as well. It’s so frustrating that I’m going to put away my scales for a couple of days. Itchiness is probably just dry skin because you’re not getting any oils. I slap on a good layer of moisturizer mixed with Neutrogena oil whenever I can. Although if your face is breaking out I wouldn’t put oil on it. I think the energy comes when you switch to juice. Nobody runs much on a water fast!!!! Not unless you really want to crash afterward.
back to the books for me while the kids are quiet (so rare) I wonder what they’re up to?
Once, my body does that often too – turning almost nothing into so much. How does that work? Grrr, so frustrating! I feel for ya.. I’ve been putting vitamin e cream on after I shower & I only itch as bedtime approaches, then I itch all night – weird huh? I think I may start showering at night instead? I’m always sleepy after & I haven’t been able to sleep at all lately. Hopefully showering before bed will help? I do want to thank you for all your insight & wisdom. I’m so glad you are here!
I’ve lost 14.5 lbs since Sunday, but it’s definately slowing down. I was losing 3 lbs every day for the first 4 days. The 5th day, I lost 1.5 lbs & the 6th, I lost 1 lb. I’m already terrified I will gain it all back with my first sip of juice – my body can defy all logic like that, it’s truly amazing. I will hope & pray for the best! I still have 14.5 lbs to go before I reach my goal. It doesn’t look like that will happen this fast. So I will probably just take a short break & eat a couple days, then start right back up again! Maybe I will get lucky & keep losing weight? I’m determined to reach my goal before the year is over!
I am so coooold. I can’t keep warm no matter what I do. Nikki…be careful about eating and then not eating…it should take a couple of days at least just to transition back onto food after water fasting shouldn’t it? I’ve heard of people who have messed up their digestions by doing this too suddenly. Tom has a step by step guide somewhere. It sounds as if you lost quite a bit of retained fluid, so do try to fight the salt & carb cravings that hopefully will not hit when you start eating, and then it won’t come back. I’m personally in uncharted territory, taking it one day at a time, not imposing a rigid goal since I might mess everything up. I’ve never made it anywhere near this far, and I still don’t want anything. I want to get back to running ASAP-but don’t want to aggravate my knees, so every extra pound I can get rid of beforehand will help.
My husband feels better today, which means it isn’t pigflu-which is GREAT because our 17 year-old is sick now, and they still don’t have the kids’ shots available at the drs

I was so much weaker today. So hard to breathe when I stand up. I couldn’t move hardly at all before the party so I squeezed some lemon juice into my water. I felt like I failed, but then I felt 100 times better. At least until I had to walk through the store to get the cake. My sister said I looked like death. Then we got to chuck e. cheese. The food there did not appeal to me at all. In fact I was pretty disgusted with all the garbage people were putting into their bodies. I couldn’t stand at all while there. I had my sister bring me some fresh squeezed orange juice hoping it would help. So I’m officially off the wagon now. 1 cup ended up being too much & I actually felt worse after. I stopped at the store for some veggies to make juice with tomorrow. Had to leave my kids in line to pay so I could go sit in the truck, was not weel enough to wait in line. So I will continue with 1 cup of juice a day for the next couple of days, then transition to fresh fruits & veggies for awhile before slowly adding other foods. I almost made it 7 days!
What a successful experience! Congrats Nikki. You have done a lot, and next time will be easier. Glad you can finally see that nasty pizza for what it is! That’s a huge step toward changing what we allow ourselves to eat!
I am sending out an SOS. I woke up this morning really wanting to eat. Feverish, hangover headache, stiff and weak all over, and I can’t breathe. And chilled to the bone. There is no heat in here and my office/bedroom is the meeting point of all the icy drafts in the building it seems. Gloves and socks only hold the chill in against my extremities. It’s getting pretty miserable. I have another 18 straight hour day tomorrow, with 9 hours of NERT training, then a three hour class with a huge exam. From 5:30 am until 10:00 pm there’ll be no rest at all. My husband is urging me to stay true-I’ve done so well. If only I could get relief from the head and neck-ache.
It’s getting a little better. I’m thinking about how that first bite of food will lead right back to my painful swollen abdomen coming back, and the pain in my joints. No thank you. I am NOT going to eat again until I figure out why my body is so inflamed. I’m going to have some mineral broth with cayenne pepper to warm up meanwhile.
Nikki-keep me posted on the “refeeding” process…I don’t know much abot it, because I’ve always botched it up!
Kudos to you Once! I can barely get out of the house when I’m fasting. I am amazed at how much you keep doing! I’ve been weak & unable to breathe almost the whole time. I’m so cold too – & I have heat! Even if I manage to warm the rest of me up, my feet & halfway up to my knees remain icy all the time. Good luck with your cayenne – mineral broth! I’ve found that lemon water really picks me up! I think I’m becoming a lemon water junkie, lol. It boosts my energy & helps a little with the weakness. It does chill me a little though… Maybe if I heated it? Like a tea? The orange juice on the other hand did not sit well with me at all. I think pizza is actually a great idea for food. It has all 4 food groups. At least when I was growing up there were 4. I think there’s like 26 now, lol. Anyway, you have the crust for your bread group, cheese for the milk group, sauce & toppings for the fruit & veggie group & meat group! Should be 1 of the most well rounded foods. Unfortunately they usually add more garbage than anything else & the ingredients are shoddy quality – especially the meats, which are more other stuff than meat usually. I bet homemade it would be excellent & very healthy. I think I’m going to have to try it.
Once, I was also going to mention that I only had the head/ neckache for a day or 2. Try rubbing your neck as much as you can & drink more water to help the headache. As far as refeeding goes, I’ve always botched it too. I always started with chicken noodle soup, followed by lots of chili – could’nt wait for protein! I think fasting longer this time really helped. I’m still not interested in food, & I definately don’t feel ready for juice either. I don’t feel ready to break my fast yet, but I feel I already did with that cup of juice.

I was reading Dr. Mozer’s water fasting story (the link is about 6″ above this somewhere), and she went off her water fast with carrot juice diluted 50% with water.
Straight juice is way too concentrated when you’ve been on water, no wonder it was upsetting, and citrus is somewhat acidic. I would dilute the orange juice with water, as you do the lemon. All that sugar and citric acid hitting your system unexpectedly is shocking.
I do better with broth than cold drinks right now-and they’re nothing special. I just throw all the vegetables sitting in my fridge into a pot-(great way for recycling the ones that are not really fresh & didn’t get used, but nothing that has actually gone bad), simmer for half an hour, strain-and you have a fairly nutritious broth. The mineral is in celery, kale, spinach, etc. I also had all these root veg’s that I was going to make stew with-carrot, parsnip, beet…it’s a great hearty, slightly sweet broth. It’s a good way to get extra nutrition into the kids if you boil their rice or spaghetti in it as well. If you have a garden-the vegetable matter left over is really good for it. I can’t do that because I’m afraid of rats!
If you don’t feel like eating yet-I suggest you don’t! Try to see if you can stay on dilute fresh juices for a few days and see how you feel then. You may want to eat then, or stay on juice, or go back to water. This is all so new. You have not broken your fast
until you eat!
You’re right about the water…I’m not drinking enough. I’m just so busy-I hate visiting the bathroom constantly!

I’m on my 2nd day of water fast.Which i intend to do for about 14 days or at least 10days (hopefully)
I was mentally strong and determined on Day 1, but today i have food cravings. Even raw veggies which i disliked.
I’m aiming to lose about 7-10kg
I’m feeling really tired today. Don’t even feel like moving my body and my attention span is really short.
I’m worried that I’ll feel this way throughout the fast.
Any experiences or advice to make the fast more tolerable?

Take natural youghart first as this will line the gut with healthy bacteria “again”, after water fasting!
Add juice with water for a day, then juice for the 2nd day, then a light salad on the 3rd day. The ratio is for every 3 days on water then 1 day of juice fasting.

Welcome to all whom i haven’t welcomed, haha, i’m afraid my access to the internet has been quite limited for the past 2 weeks and will remain so for a tad longer, so i offer my sincerest apologies.
Taala- wow, 15 and water fasting, haha, man thats neat. I did my first fast at 16. It was the master cleanse and i did it partially for wieghtloss and partially to see if it was possible to do and basically started to experiment with some “alternative” stuff. If you find that water is too hard for you i would suggest a juice fast supplimented with tea. Tea (especially ginger, green, oolong or chai) will speed up your metabolism and cause you to burn more cals at rest while also providing some phyto-nutrients, if your goal is strictly wieghtloss. Also focus on citrus fruits like lemon, as that help accelerate the release of fat stores in the body. I honestly think the master cleanse is the best juice-fast for wieghtloss just because of the ingrediants, but if you’re looking for superior weightloss, mental clarity, accelerated cleansing, and a regained sense of control, then water fasting is your best bet.
Nikki- HAaaa I KNEW you’d make it past ur “plateau”. i’m so happy for you, you’ve proven that given the right amount of time and effort that you have no limit to what you can achieve. Always remember that
Ron- wow we have a raw-fooder here, hahaaa, awesome! I’ll definatly vouche that raw food is superior, at least in my own experiences. I found that after 2 weeks on raw food my total caloric intake dropped and my energy increased by leaps and bounds. everyone was telling me how young and vibrant i look and asked what i was doing. Of course when i told them i eat a diet of mostly only 2-3 pieces of fruit a day with some flax oil and raw nuts/seeds on occasion they started telling me how “wrong” i was…and i just smiled.

Just touching base at the moment. it’s unfortunate that there’s a charge to upload videos to the blog, but i guess i’ll just have to man up and do it (as i haven’t found a way around it), so there should be much more on there soon. I’m also working right now on the mind, the media and a few other…quirks i’ve found with modern living and modern thought/behavioural patterns that i feel the need to talk about. I have them all saved as word files on my external. Gonna order my new laptop(the old one was MESSED up) 2morow and should find time online to upload some stuff hopefully later this week. I am quite disappointed in my delay, i will make up for it 2fold in my efforts, i promise.

Day 1 for me today. I haven’t learned how to eat yet, so I’m starting over. Seems like I can’t eat little enough & I hate feeling so full & miserable. Now I have to quit eating for at least a couple days just to catch up with myself. I think even juice at this point would be too much for me. I am however going to add lemon juice to my water this time. It really does wonders for me. So I guess a lemon water fast would be somewhere between a water fast & a juice fast? Now I just need to get back to the store for more lemons – ran out the other day. I still haven’t fully regained my strength yet. I’m doing much better walking outside, the fresh air really helps so much! Inside I still can’t stand or walk for more than a couple minutes without losing my breath, lol – so sad. I’m doing a little better though. Right now I see being full as more of a setback than starting over. I think I gained back 2 lbs in these 2 days.

It’s all learning isn’t it? I got through yesterday-it was much easier than Thursday. We were learning to put out fires and pull debris off injured people, etc. I “graduated”, and got my NERT i.d., which means in the event of “the big one” I will be called on to go out and help the fire dept with search & rescue. But stumbling around in a dark room, looking for “survivors”, inhaling sooty smoke whenever the wind changed was nothing compared to the perils of lunchtime.
We were provided free sandwiches, chips and soda…bleah-didn’t impress me Thursday. But yesterday, the smell of nachos…oh it hurt. Then the guy in front of me left an open bag of pretzels right in my face!! I LOVE pretzels. As a distance runner, I used to get the big low sodium rye prestzels from the health food store and nibble one after a workout. In my mind I was planning a heist while his back was turned. I nearly made a fool of myself. I was gonna approach under the table and slide my arm under the bag from the other side.
Then we were getting our certificates and they were eating CAKE! I almost didn’t hear the fire chief call my name. I could smell the sugar. Normally cake makes me cringe-specially that thick creamy sugary icing – ouch!! it causes cramps and distress when it hits my stomach. It’s wayyy too sweet and rich. Makes me feel ill every time. I haven’t had a piece of cake in a while. But I just wanted to TASTE it. It was an obsession.
When everyone was gone, I looked around, crept toward the remains of the cake and sniffed the air…I HAD to taste it!!! Caution to the wind, I grabbed a napkin, and one of the plastic knives they’d used to cut it, and brought it to my face…I licked the knife. It was an explosion in my mouth-fireworks!!! The taste!!!! OMG!!!!! Then a raspy voice behind me said-”This room’s closed, ma’am”-it was the janitor with his cart.
I dropped the knife and fled the scene!
I tasted that icing Nikki-but I didn’t inhale!!

. I guess I’m lucky. Cake grosses me out – especially all the rich sugary icing – blech! Normally I guess I used to love cake, especially chocolate or carrot cake. I always told myself carrot cake was a vegetable to make myself feel better, lol. I’m doing much better now though, lol. Congrats on your graduation!!! I’m so happy for you!
. So I’m still 18 lbs from my goal. 18 lbs is much better than 55 though (where I was when I started back in Aug.), so I really can’t complain

I am fasting again. I’m about halfway through day 1 now. This time I’m doing a lemon water fast! Except, I still don’t have the lemons, lol. I’m just going to try a short fast of 3 days this time. I will probably still feel full when my fast is over! So maybe 5 days? We’ll see! Oh & I was mistaken, I actually gained back 3.5 in those 2 days eating, not 2 like I thought

Day 20 of my water fast. Start weight was 203 lbs., 10 day weight was 183 lbs., today I’m 172 lbs. BP= 113/79, heart rate 72 bpm. I know this seems extreme but I believe the only reason I held this weight was because of a medication I injected every week for my psoriatic arthritis. The last 2 years I have been on a 90% raw food diet. I have run a minimum of 5 miles every day, taking maybe 3-4 days off a month. My normal semi resting pulse is 49 bpm. I told my wife there is no way I can weigh this much ( 203lbs). I have not taken the medication since Nov. 13th. I started the med in 2004 while I was currently eating a raw food diet, weighed 170 lbs. I did have psoriasis which didn’t bother me. The arthritis started to get more problematic. The arthritis doctor told me ” I dont care what you eat or what you do, if you dont take this medicine you will be in a wheel chair in 3 years. I was so mad at him I never went back. I was scared enough that at my next dermatologist appt. that I gave into taking the med which the derm had been suggesting for the past 4 years prior. As I’ve said prior I am led by the Lord in this fast. If its His will I will immediately do as many days on a juice fast as I do on water, followed by at least 1 year of 90% raw food diet before I take another shot of medication. Either way to Him be the Glory. Bless all,

Hi Jim, I’m so glad to see your faith! The Lord will protect and guide you. My doctor would not recommend fasting to anyone in light of my healings. And he had first hand evidence!
It just goes to show that: “For those who “do” believe no explanation is necessary. “For those who “don’t” believe, no explanation is possible!”
I firmly believe that doctors and health professionals are here to help us. And God sometimes works his miracles through them. We just need to pray, and God will guide us and make His Will known.

So Keith, what did you think about the yogurt thing? Since I’m allergic to dairy is it enough to just take non-dairy acidophilus in capsules? How much do I need? & for how long? I’m back to fasting again for now, just asking for when I’m done.

If you are willing to spend up to $20, thats fine, but the thing with acidophilus capsules is that you take them with food 2 twice daily, however” acidophilus and Bifidus capsules are heavily encapsulated to prevent destruction of the bacteria by stomach acids.
On the day before you break the fast, before eating, swallow two capsules with a glass of warm water. Repeat this once a week. It will take four days for the bacteria to reproduce themselves into a healthy culture.
What im trying to say to you is that after water fasting you need to line the gut with healthy bacteria first, before eating solids, more so on long water fast, so what i would recomend you can also try non dairy coconut milk powder, you can add this with water before moving onto juice/water, then juice, then salad.
I remember you saying a while back you have had probs with constipation, acidophilus capsules relieve this when you move back onto food.

Another alternative that you may wish to consider would be RAW dairy, or unpastuerized. most people who are alergic to dairy are so because they cannot digest the milk sugars (lactose). However in raw dairy there is an abundance of the enzyme “Lactase” which breaks down lactose for you. All enzymes in food are destroyed above something like 115 degrees so pastuerization destroys these components. My best friend is lactose intolerant but we snack on raw cheese and he never has a problm with it. Also raw milk contains ALL of the helpfull bateria which are usually destroyed in pasteurization as well.

Pasteurization is evil. It’s next to impossible to find anything unpasturized – milk, juice, etc. It’s so frustrating! I have a juicer & can make my own juice now I just need my own farm. I think it’s really the only way to know for sure what you’re consuming.
Lol, I am allergic to dairy. I only found out after my first water fast back in Aug. I had lost some weight & all my retained water. After a couple days I was eating ice cream with the kids. You should’ve seen them staring at me! I blew up like a balloon right before their eyes – it was incredible. I never noticed before because I’d always had dairy. I knew I always retained water (hadn’t had ankles in years, lol!), but never knew why til after fasting. So I haven’t known for very long, not even 4 months. I haven’t had cake since before that & i haven’t had ice cream since. I also don’t have milk. I am having a hard time getting away from butter & cheese though, as I prepare a lot of meals with these -especially butter. I just try to keep using less, but boy does it show when I have it! I swell like crazy & it happens instantly. You can literally watch me grow before your eyes! So it doesn’t really hurt me, it’s not like I wil go into anaphylactic shock & die. I just doubt my body can get nourishment from dairy because of the way I react to it.

Have you tried coconut kefir? I used to make mine which was quite a hassle but now my healthfood store carries it. It’s one of the few foods that does not cause me any grief. I am wrapping up day nine and the cold almost did me in-but I’m not one to complain!

The inflammation I had has all but gone, although my glands are swollen. The arthritis I had was so bad it was in my fingers, hips, neck, knees and toes. All my shoes hurt. It’s all gone. I am not by any means on a “pure” or by the book fast-but I really hoped my inflammation would resolve and I’d break bad eating habits and drop some weight. Mission being accomplished.
I haven’t wanted any juice, but I’ve had water, herb tea, diluted coconut kefir occasionally and my “dead” broth which has been mysteriously warming and sustaining. I’ve lost 8 lbs. and an inch and a half off my waist. I’m not weighing myself every day because a watched pot never boils, and you feel the weight loss usually before it shows on the wretched scales.
I’ve had problems with mood swings, unexplained crying jags and loss of temper, sometimes I feel sharp, and sometimes horribly groggy, and up until today I had a horrible head/neck ache. It’s gone now. I’m tired, very cold, but better than this time last week.

I second that! You’ll feel a little better if you’re on a fast when you see it-but it’s tough to watch. Homo Sapiens is one crazy creature!

Today is 14 days since I finished my 10 day water-fast.
I have gained all my weight back and that is just fine with me. (I am 5’11”, 180lbs.)
Never did my first fast to lose weight, but to see if my white blood cell count would increase.
Total WBS now is 4.2 and has increased from before fasting which was 3.6.
If the fasting contributed to this I don’t know, but it is for sure going in the right direction!
I am however still at the low end of normal:
Hematocrit: 39.7%, Hemoglobin: 12.8 g/dl, MCHC: 32.2 g/dl, Granulocytes: 1.1
Feeling really good after the fasting and have plenty of energy.
I will do a 30 day juice fast next, probably sometime in March 2010.

Here are some foods to take to boost your immune system before you begin your juice/veg fast next year.
Give the immune system a boost by including lots of yogurt that contains live active cultures of Lactobacillus Bulgaricus and Strepococcus thermophilus. Some other specific foods to include are garlic, foods high in zinc such as oysters, pot roast, dark meat turkey and pumpkin and squash seeds

We have a policy on fasting.ws, that goes as follows.
Fasting teenagers younger than 18 years of age need to request their guardian to fast. Some parents support teenagers on short juice fasts and others radically oppose it. If they oppose your fast, you may try convincing them to let you try one or two days of juice fasting and then see how it goes.
We cannot encourage anyone younger than 18 to fast, and will not without the parents consent.

Hi All,
I ended my fast yesterday afternoon. I had a day of fial exams, and was in quite a bit of pain in my face. It got a bit much. It was my parotid gland (the big salivary glands in your cheeks) that was hurting before I began my fast-every time I ate it would cramp, as it does when you eat something woth a sharp or tart taste-but then it would start to REALLY hurt-from the side of my nose, all the way to and including my ears, and behind my jaw. The pain would then remain constant for the rest of the day. That and the gut problems were the reason for my fast. But yesterday the pain started in without any food. I was fasting. So I tried broth with cayenne pepper to try to stimulate them. Warm compresses. So finally I was driven to chew on something.
I slowly reintroduced some food. There is almost no pain today-just a slight ache behind my ear. It was really bad yesterday. I have been taking a new probiotic for several days-one that I’ve read is highly effective for IBS, so I hope that works. I was going to wait until school was over to get a test for Sjogrens syndrome-and until then assume I am a hopeless hypochondriac and that it’s all in my imagination, and stop boring my poor family with my imaginary pains.
I will try another juice fast in January, and I’m interested in a raw foods diet, but my digestion can’t handle any more fiber than spinach, and that’s with HC acid supplements, pancreatic enzymes, and ox bile supplements at every meal. I seem to have absolutely no digestive juices of my own anymore. This makes a raw foods diet impossible right now. I hope I get some help.
Tom-it’s obvious that your focus is on life-threatening conditions like cancer, as it should be – but if ever you do any research on autoimmune diseases, please let me get involved. It’s a fast-growing collection of pretty awful syndromes and diseases that’s hitting mostly women-women who’ve taken care of themselves and raised families and deserve good health. It hits right at the time of life where they can start to devote some time to themselves at last-and they have to spend it at the doctors getting diagnosed with really painful debilitating incurable illnesses instead!

Actually-it doesn’t just hit adults…my daughter, at the age of 13 nearly died of an autoimmune disease called Wegener’s Granulomatosis. The doctors didn’t recognize it until it was nearly too late-and her kidneys were destroyed and her lungs were full of blood. They told me she was going to die. By a miracle (me telling her all night long to pull through and stop bleeding into her lungs or ELSE! and use of a plasmaphoresis machine) she pulled through, but her kidneys were gone. She’s had a transplant, and eventually recovered, and whether or not that proves a genetic predisposition or not – the doctors don’t really know.
This may be TMI but I am on the ninth day of my water only fast. On day three I did a saline wash so I know that there is little if anything sitting in my intestines but recently I have been having a lot of gas, not painful in my abdomen but noxious. In fact I don’t really even feel the gas until it is time to pass it. What’s going on? What should I do? I plan to continue my fast until natural hunger returns as I really feel great despite the odd odors at various parts of my body.

I know Tom might not agree with me on this, but the best thing you can do is the [SWF] Salt water flush, this will clean you out, even after 21 days on water, i still passed out waste that was lying around in the intestines, there is still waste lying inside you trust me.
I even felt blooted on day 19-21 on water, but when i did the [SWF] i felt much better.
The salt water flush is horrid, but very effective.
Maby you can let me know the big 3…Age, hight, waight so i can help some more.

I will be starting my 40 day water fast between the 1st-7th day of january 2010, i will be posting my daily videos on youtube and here with Toms concent, so that you all can see the changes that happen on a long water fast. I will be checked by a doctor start, middle, and towards the end.

I wanted to tell you one good thing that has happened to me since I ended my 10 day water-fast November 25th.
I used to be completely allergic to deodorants, any deodorants, not only the ones with aluminum. (Which I think nobody should be using anyways.)
I used to start itching terrible after a short while and would have to wash off the deodorant.
After my water-fast I can use deodorants again, with no problems!
It might sound trivia, but to me it is a great blessing after so many years of being allergic.
I am 60 years and have been allergic to deodorants for about 20 years.

I have already started to think about my 30 day water-fast planned for March and have a few questions for you.
Have read that drinking distilled water is the best. Why is that? Wouldn’t drinking distilled water for 30 days deplete the body of its minerals?
We have freshwater generators onboard here that produces large quantities of distilled water. After that the water goes through mineralizing filters, before it gets chlorinated.
I can tap water before it goes through the mineralizing filters.
I am thinking about doing saltwater enemas every 3 days during the 30 day fast. What is your opinion on that?
We are docking is Brisbane for four days today and looking forward to some civilization after all these tropical island where there was nothing to do other than getting sand up your butt…

Day 1: I have started a juice fast to try and restart my sluggish thyroid. I am in hopes that the problem will be resolved after 40 days. So far so good, having some tingling in extremities, and strange throat senstaions (which is normal for me, and are from my thyroid condition.)Will post more tomorrow!

I have been to hell and back in the early days of my thyroid, i was overactive at the start, after many years in iodine pills, i decided to get the radio-active pill,,let me know if your over or underactive,also what medication you are on?

I have an underactive thyroid that set in after the birth of my second child. I have the option to take medication but am not. I am however supplementing with kelp-iodine during the fast. I’m hoping to return to the doctor after my 40 days and have normal readings. I’ll keep you posted!!
Day:2 I have noticed a huge diffrence in my skin. Areas that were dry and flaking are looking much better, areas that were broke out are healing and redness has reducess greatly. I am having some major headaches though….

I had Graves disease which was life threatining to me, my heart rate at rest was 195 bpm lol.
thats like doing a marathon 24/7 so you can imajin when i moved about, this went on for at least 4 months before i was given a beta-blocker to slow the heart, i thought i was going nuts, i now take levelthyroxine, after the radio-active pill i took over 6 yrs ago, taking this pill was quite funny coz i could not go neer people for 2 weeks, i remember avoiding people and stayed at least 10 feet from anyone, even outside, i would cross the road when i saw someone coming towards me lol, anyway let me know how you get on

Hmmm… Thanks for the information guess I need to get some vitamin A. Usually I take a good multi vitamin, Kelp, and b12 everyday. I don’t think the kelp works well for me, maybe the vitamin A will change that. My mother inlaw who is huge on home remidies told me to use liquid iodine and put it on my feet. She said my body would absorb it through my skin. I did that when I first found out I had a thyroid issue and my next blood reults were normal. Then I switched to kelp thinking it would be more convinient and my levels dropped again. I can’t imagine having my heart rate that fast! Sometimes I have issues where I feel like my heart rate is to slow, maybe it has something to do with my thyroid. I would always go in to the emergency room convinced my heart was giving out and I was sent home with a label of panic attacks. I’m not familiar with the radio active pill, is that what cured you graves disease? I would be scared to take it!
Hi Rebecca, I had a girlfriend years ago that had a bad thyroid problem. She took meds for years with no issues other than some weight gain. But, there are natural medications available now! Also, diet is a big factor in stablizing the problem. Avoid processed foods and especially caffeine! Thanks so much for the link! My husband and I searched around for alternative treatments for thyroid problems before I started this fast. I really feel lead by God to do the fast. I’ve read post from other fasting doctors on other sites that have said that thyroid problems respond really well to fasting. Since I needed a good detox anyway I figured I’d try it. If it doesn’t work I haven’t lost anything (except for toxins, and weight.) The site you sent has good prices, other sites I’ve seen cost $199+ a month for natural medication. There is debate into distilled water?…My opinion on this? drink spring, or mineral water, it did not do me any harm on my 30 day water fast.
Take an enema on day 1-3 to get max detox from your fast.
I will take a SWF the first day of my fast, then on the 4-5th day.

To be honest, this time i will start with a juice/veg fast for 2 days prior.
This will be the biggest thing i have done in my life going 40 days on water, many say that they will go 40 days on water but verry few make the 40 days.
It takes a lot of focus and mind power to see it through, also mixed in is fear, tears, emotions, and many other factors on a long fast.
But you will not see any of these things when i post my vids on youtube, ill only tell you how a feel…LOL.
I am not sure if i will start the fast on the 27th dec, or 1st jan, but i will let you know.

Thanks for asking – I’ve been having a tough time health-wise. I ended my fast after nearly two weeks due to pain in my face and neck glands and stress. As soon as I started eating, the pains went away, and I was tested last week for sjogrens syndrome, an autoimmune disease. I’m hoping I am negative, of course. What is most frustrating is how the painful symptoms turn on and off suddenly, like a light switch-even when I’m fasting. Of course, my digestion has returned to its painful bloated state. My weight continues to climb. So I am going to try to quietly accompany you part of the way on your fast. I can start after the 29th, my daughter’s b’day. Are you already healthy, and a good weight?
I’m just over 2 weeks into my fast. I’m planning on doing a 2 or 3 dry fast at the end of the week. I had a couple of questions.
It says you can do an enema and then dry fast. I prefer to do a salt water flush. Do I do the SWF just before the dry fast or the day before?
And can I go right back to water fasting when I’m done or will it slow down my metabolism too much?

When do you get your energy back on a water fast? I’m on day 15 (6 days of water) and I get tired going from my bedroom to the dryer (which is in the next room). I can’t even wash my hair I’m so exhausted.

Water fasting can make many people very weak and tired with a few energy brakes.
I am one of those. When I water fast I spend most of my time in bed.
If it get to much as some juice to bring your your energy levels to a tolerable level.

Is this your first fast?.. let me know, also i would not recomend dry fasting during a water fast, sorry this is how i feel, water fasting is taxing enough on the body without dry fasting.
On my 30 day water fast i found it really hard walking long distance. On one of my fasts i walked 4 mile on the 5-8th day, not sure if this was sheer determanation, or stupidity, your energy will go up and down like a yo yo.
Please dont dry fast then do the [SWF] Or you will end up in a 6 by 3, box depending on your hight and width…LOL.

I’m 31, 5’5″ and a few days ago I weighed 250. I’ve done several fasts though this one will be my first over 10 days (no idea how long I’ll go). I was planning on doing the SWF then the dry fast not the other way around. I’ll take what you said under advisement but in the end I’ll let my intuition tell me. I’ll let you guys know if I do happen to try the dry fast and tell you how it goes.

But it really doesn’t matter if you do the dry fast at the start or finnish of your water fast, i just dont recomend it.
I know that you have read about it. One of my friends dry fasted 3 days and ended up really ill, but i would like to hear from your progress on the dry fast if you decide to do it.
However i do agree with your choice, on the SWF. This has a deep cleansing effect on the colone, and intestines, speeding up detox.

The best way to do a dry fast is to start with juice to build up your nutritional reservers, then water, then dry and back to juice or water. It is a rush going from a dry fast to juice as the cells soak up the natural sugars and nutrients and it comes with a wave of good feelings. Wishing you are the best doing the holidays. I did 9 days of juice (master cleanse) and I’m on day 7 of water. Is that too long away from the juice?

You could do a 30 day water fast and 3 on juice or alternate daily. It is all a matter of choice and finding what works for you. The master cleanse is not the same a juicing. It is the juice the has the enzymes and all the mysteries of nutrition.

Bottled natural juice is fine on a juice fast. It does not healing or give the high of a juice from a juicer.

There are high energy carbs that are slow releasing to give you the energy you need and still retain waight loss?

You need to tell me’ what your intake of these are?. Then i will work out a program for you.

Thanks for your comments. I like water fasting because I’m not hungry. I just wish I had a little energy. Today I did a SWF. I drank it and 2 minutes later threw it up (it was yellow) so that didn’t work so well.
As far as the carbs, calories, vits (is that vitamins?) I’ll need to partake of, I have no idea. I’m basically going with a clean slate. Any advice would be helpful.
I just know if I have to juice myself, I won’t do it. That’s why I was trying to find a juice that is 100% juice.
