Me: 30 days of Water Fasting
34 years old Male, weighing 69 kg / 151.8 lbs, 72 in /182.88 cm tall, United States
Doing 30 days of Water Fasting. Starting December 1, 2010
Reasons for Fasting:
For health. I have bowel problems. Doctors have been unable to help, they haven't found any labels for what ails me. Some didn't even seem to believe anything was wrong, since they couldn't find something. I digest poorly and eliminate poorly. Wouldn't say I am usually constipated, but do need to spend a lot of time in the bathroom, and return more times than I should. I know I'm not giving great detail, but my ability to "live life" has been severely limited by the bowel issues. Another reason for fasting.. I have bulimia. I can be an emotional eater, and with my current health problems, eating means limiting what I am able to do the next day because of poor and time consuming elimination. That creates a level of fear of food, which I hope to clear up with a healthy body. I do know bulimia is addictive as well, but I am confident a prolonged fast, which brings full bowel health, will go a long way in "curing" the bulimia.
Past Fasting Experience:
I have fasted for 21 days in the past. The last few days I was feeling great, but switched to juice to end the fast short, because others were getting worried about me not eating. The fast cleared up a gluten intolerance, I hope a longer one will clear up the rest of my bowel problems. Recently went 5 days on a fast, but ended it because I wasn't in the right frame of mind, nor was my body pre-cleansed enough.
Eh... there is junk in my diet. I don't usually keep it in me though... For quite a while until recently, I had been starting my mornings with a smoothie; coconut water, banana, and some berries. And lunch was a veggie dish of some sort, that sometimes included rice or was in soup form. Dinner? Maybe a snack. That doesn't include anything that might have been binged and purged. I do take vitamins, and currently doing a pre-cleanse, and trying to up the "good nutrient" intact to hopefully fill up my stores, in case the bulimia has drained them. Not sure if it would have.
Present Medical Problems:
Bowel problems, bulimia, currently taking no medication.
State of Mind:
Pretty good actually, I feel like this will greatly help my health. And the recent mini-5 day fast I did, my energy was great. The 21 day fast I did, I was feeling pretty bad until day 19. So I can't wait to start, but want to clean myself out some more.
None I can think of. It is winter. So will have the cold to deal with.
My main concern is how would my stores be? How draining is bulimia of them? I'm hoping to take this fast all the way to true hunger, but I will listen to my body. I won't have a doctor watching over me, but I handled the 21 day fast well, so I believe my body can handle fasting well. Are there any warning signs (besides hunger) that I should watch out for? I do realize my weight is already a bit low. The last fast I did, I started at about 7 pounds more than I currently am, and finished 15 pounds lighter than I currently am. My body fat is about 14%. So don't know if my body will be able to go 30 days.. or longer, I'm assuming true hunger will set in when my stores are empty.
