Nicotine Cigarette Tobacco Addiction

Nicotine Addiction can be cured by fasting.

The body craves because of the metabolic imbalance that fasting will reset if given enough time. Curing nicotine addiction needs a prolonged juice fast over 20 days. The cleansing of the lungs will also need longer fasting. The psychological aspects are harder. That can take months. If is important to develop and positive, healthy lifestyle with an exercise program.

Nicotine Addiction Facts

Tobacco contributes to 30 percent of all cancers. A burning cigarette contains over two hundred poisonous substances that are carried by the blood to every cell in the body. Cigarettes advance aging of the skin. Nicotine binds white blood cells, increasing the chance of infections. Shellac, acetone, turpentine, acetaldehyde and glyoxal are common cigarette additives, some of which have caused cancer in animals.

Researchers have found that a burning cigarette releases radioactive polonium. Polonium metal is vaporized by heat and sucked into and deposited in the lungs. Smoking one- and-a-half packs per day exposes the lungs to 8,000 millirems per year (Science, December 1984). This is greater than any other radiation source. Scientist Dennis O’ Dowd says that your exposure could be several times greater than living next door to a nuclear reactor.

If you live in Mississippi and you need help with your nicotine addiction, you can make use of a Mississippi rehab locator to find the right kind of treatment for your condition.

Hi Tom, I wanted to thank you for responding so quickly to my last post. I am currently on the day 8 of my water fast, and aside from a some dizzy spells I am over all feeling pretty good, my body seems to be adjusting, and I am not experiencing the cravings for food that I did in the initial few days of the fast. It actually feels good to be getting rid of the extra pounds.

One of the main reasons why I wanted to do this fast is to get over my addictions to caffeine and nicotine. I am still drinking 1-2 cups of coffee per day with Splenda and half and half and smoking about a pack of cigarettes per day. I have read that cravings to coffee and nicotine disappear on a fast, but my concern is that it has not happened to me yet. I was wondering if that is because I need more time on the fast, or should I be changing my strategy? Thanks.

    Hi Marksyd,
Just stick to the plan. Coffee is a powerful addiction. Very sneeky. As they say one cup is too many and a 1000 is never enough. LOL You will make it. :-)

  4. Anna says:

I want to fast, and I never did,
But i do smoke pretty heavily. If i smoked while fast is it going to ruin everything?
    how do i quit:(

  5. Aurelia says:

    Anna,
I smoked for almost 20 years, heavily for about 16. I have tried many methods to quit. I quit smoking for 6 months on the patch a few years ago. However, I truly did not have the desire in my heart to quit. As soon as I was around smokers again I started having smoking desires. It took less than a week for me to start up again. I am 31, started when I was twelve, and I have been trying to quit for about eight years now; unsuccessful, till three months ago.
I fell in love, and for the first time in my life I actually cared if I lived a long and happy life. Before I could care less, I lived each day as it was, with little regard to the length of my life. Not that I was unhealthy really, just that I did not think much on it. I decided I needed to quit if I wanted to be around longer. I didn’t quit for him either, but for myself, which is key to most any lifestyle changes….do it for you and because YOU want to.
Any method will work, but there are two things that I found really helped me, both were mental actions.
    1. I mentally prepared for it. I told myself, for about two weeks before I stopped, that I hated smoking and that cigarettes taste horrible. That I was not going to let it have control over my life. Guess what, I started cutting back and by the end of the two weeks I was smoking a lot less then I normally did. I really believe many things are mind over matter and I just kept making the cigarettes out to be the bad guy…which they are. :)
    2. The true desire to quit HAS to be there. I use to always think I wanted to quit, but this time it was different. This time I really could visualize myself smoke free. When I was down and felt I might need one I thought of things like growing old with my love, happy things. Sappy as it may sound, it was a lot like Favorite Things from the Sound of Music, lol. But I found positive reinforcement worked for me; it reminded me of why I wanted this so bad.
I did wear the patch. I wanted to break the habit and the nicotine addictions at different times. I wore the patch for only four weeks, then I took it off and I have been fine for the most part. I did have some habitual issues just a few weeks ago that came out of nowhere. Yet, since I have started fasting I have not had any desires to even hold one. However, that could be that my mind is more centered now and is less likely to drift in random directions.
Sorry this was long, I hope it helps though. Nicotine is horrible to get off of. The physical habits are one thing, but the drug itself is vicious. Anna, if you need support I am more than happy to offer it, or anyone else who is trying to quit smoking…while fasting or not. However, this is my first time fasting so I might not be a lot of help with the fasting bits. :)
My e-mail is aurelia.v2@gmail.com. I am online quite often and my response should be fairly quick in case of emergencies…and yes I had a few scary moments (by the grace of God and an angel I pulled through ). Support would have made things a lot easier for me though and I hope anyone who is quitting will contact me or find a good solid person for support.
God Bless and good luck. :)

      Hi Keith101,
I am not so keen on promoting the salt water flush. It is hard on the system.
I think it would be good for Candida or to quickly kill intestinal pathogens that are causing illness, but for a normal person an enema is easy and effective.

  8. moonlights says:

    Hi all,

I understand I need to learn much about fasting but for now I am wondering if the intensity of ones ( mine ) addictions impact the style of fasting to do?

I drink over 6 litres of Coke Cola per day and smoke apprx 70 rollies a day.

I have a strong constitution but as a friend recently told me, ” an Oak tree is a big strong tree, but when they fall – they fall! ” You with me?

Anyway, I am getting nervous about all this as I have 5 kids and work etc etc and am seeking the best way to at least begin the journey.

    Any suggestions would be wonderful.

    Thankyou

    Dane

      Hi Moonlights
If your body is toxic you want to start with juice fasting with lots of juice for 3 days. The after that you can cut down. You are right in that you can be strong then dead the next day. Your body will have a strong addiction to caffeine and you may need a Tylenol or a one coffee to reduce the headaches that will be hell for 3 days. Expect to sleep a lot. As to the rollies. Lots of tar and nicotine so your lungs may start to ache and cough more as you cut down and your lungs start to clear. Try to cut down the number of rollies and smoke less with each session. This will be hard but freedom has a price that is worth paying. That is my advice. Keep us posted. Try to start the fast on Friday so you get Sat and Sun to get through the worst part, or a time when you do not have commitments.

  9. keith101 says:

    Hi Dane
I was reading your post about drinking 6 litres of coke cola, 70 rollies,
Can i ask you if you have trouble sleeping?
My mother drinks a lot of cola and cannot sleep at night, i keep telling her its the cola as it has high caffine content, she also smokes 40 cigerrettes a day!
You should deffinatly try juice fasting to ween yourself off the caffine.
You would be better to tackle one thing at a time. but i have to say the cola has to go, even the sugar content is mega!
If you decide on a juice fast we are here to help you, i have just finished a 30 day water only fast, and there are people fasting at the moment on the daily progress page, we are all here to help you,
    Best regards Keith.

hi, ive completed 42 water fast days since may, my longest streaks are 7 and 10 days, the first 7 days i call hell week fast, i was in horrible anguish, i didnt know about toxins, on the 4th day of the 7 day fast when i woke up i felt like something metal hit me in the head, months later i find out about RADIOACTIVE POLONIUM METAL in cigarrettes, i think God was givin me a hint to learn about that, the 10 day fast was easy and fun, i quit after the 10th day because i started feeling week, then i learned cigarettes have carbon monoxide which keeps oxygen from getting to muscle cells and causes fatigue/weekness, now i know cigarettes are the worst toxins by far, in my opinion, so i am extremely motivated to do a 21 or 30 day fast to break nicotine adiction for good, i think i only have about 20-25lbs of fat left on me so thats all i can do, ive quit drinking sodas and eating processes sugars and candies, fasting helped me do that for sure, i eat healthy as i can now, i started at 210 lbs in may 2010 now i am 165 lbs 6 feet tall, im on 3rd day of my goal of 21/30 days water fast, GOD WILLING IM GOING TO DO IT!!! hehe any folks in the faith of Jesus plz pray for my success tyvm i couldnt have learned and done all that fasting with out Jesus helping me in my opionion, bye

    • drake says:

oh one more question plz, the first thing that article at top says is “The body craves because of the metabolic imbalance that fasting will reset if given enough time” <PLZ explain what that sentence means, ty sir

  12. Tom Coghill says:
    Tom Coghill

    Hi Drake,
Any drug imbalances your homeostasis or metabolism. When the drug wears of your body is out of balance and craves the drug to re-balance the system. After time the drug addict need the drug to feel normal. I do not do email support except for premium support members. Your body clean when fasting at that allows healing.

  13. peachesplay says:

Hi i just wanted to no if its safe to fast if you smoke and your very over weight im a stay at home mom and i want to quit smoking and lose weight

  14. LivingRaw says:

    Hi peachesplay!

In short, yest it’s o.k. to fast in your condition, BUT you must do it right. You have allot of toxins in your system and probably are malnourished.

Before jumping straight into a water fast prep your body with 5 days only fresh raw vegetational, then 5 day juice feast. Make sure to have allot of dark leafy greens during these 10 days.

Once you have successfully finished this prep you can start your water fast. Needless to say, you should stop smoking during the fast as it will slow down your detoxification. But if you cave and have a smoke don’t dispare, just start over the next day.

The first 5 days will be the toughest. Make sure to get plenty of support. (That’s what we are here for! :) )

When breaking your fast do the above in reverse. For every week of a water fast you should come off of it with one/two days of juice, then one/two days of fresh raw vegetation.

To overcome your smoke addiction and continue in your weight loss you must continue a detox plan for an extended period of time. Make sure to ALWAYS take in plenty of water and dark leafy greens.

Last piece of advice. Take it one step at a time. Your body will need time to adjust. You will be experiencing many detox symptoms that are unpleasant. Hang in there. The out come will be worth it!

    GOOD LUCK!
    ~L~

Hey you guys! this is my first time posting and i appreciate all your advice and encouragement. I am a 25 year old male and i want to fast to get free of all of my addictions that i’ve let into my life (nicotine, caffeine, and a little alcohol here and there) I also believe a have some degree of Candida overgrowth in my system. My question is should i tackle the Candida overgrowth first, or should i do the fast first? if i do the fast it would have to be on watermelon juice, as my body is too toxic to do water alone right now. Any advice is greatly appreciated

I am interested in starting a 30-45 day juice fast and feel like I’ve done a lot of research…However, I’m a pack-a-day smoker and am nervous about starting a fast and continuing smoking. I would like to quit, as part of the process, but know that I won’t quit within the first week. I’ve read several things, even an article that smoking while fasting could KILL you (particularly in the first 7-10 days)!?!? Can you please give me more information to help me begin the process or set my mind at ease. There are several reasons I wasn’t to fast, health and nutrition being of utmost importance. I have just been feeling poor lately and know this will be a good way to detox and get myself right…Thank you for any assistance!!!

Hi Jen, I’ve never heard that smoking killed anyone during a fast. But, trying to rid your body of toxins and pouring them in at the same time is not a good idea. Why not start with a raw foods diet, while you are trying to quit smoking? You will be helping to heal your body and giving yourself time to remove the bad habit!

The single best thing you can do for yourself at this point is to finally quit smoking. Everything else in your life will seem very doable after that! I smoked years ago. And quiting was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. So I know what you are going through. I’ll pray for your strength and guidance. God Bless and Good Luck! Ron
