  • Doing 30 days of Juice Fasting. Starting September 3, 2011

  • Reasons for Fasting:
    This is my second attempt at a 30 day juice fast. The last time I lasted 10 days. This time I'm determined to go the distance. I have chronic adult onset asthma, and I want it gone. I also have insulin resistance. In addition I have some sort of adrenal problem, severe anxiety, and weird adreneline rushes. My Naturalpathic doctor told me the other day NOT to do this fast. I'm am not a good listener when I'm determined to do something. I'm modifying this fast by adding two scoops of Vega protein powder a day. I also add a little bit of oil - about a teaspoon of cod liver oil a day.

  • Past Fasting Experience:
    I've done 5 previous 5 day fasts, and several 3 day ones. My last in the spring was 10 days

  • Present Diet:
    Not bad, but too much wine. Quit the diet coke habit 6 months ago and will never drink it again. I've been trying to stay Paleo, but struggled a bit with carb cravings.

  • Supplements:
    Protein powder, includes minerals and vitamins. Vega brand. Amino acid blend. Vitamin C, bentonite clay

  • Relevant Medical History:
    Anxiety, hypothyroid, compromised adrenal function, asthma

  • Present Medication or Drug Usage:
    Just dessicated thyroid - 180 mg

  • Questions:
    Protein powder - bad idea? I thought it would help to support my adrenals and keep my naturalpath happy because this would not be a *true* juice fast
