Fasting & Excessive Weight Loss

Weight Loss And Its Different Views

Skinny has many definitions. Here in the Philippines if you do not have 20 lbs. of excess fat you are too skinny. In Colombia, the guys like “big butts” and busts. In North America where almost everyone is overweight and esteem thinness as beautiful, one inch of fat over the belt is too much fat.

Weight Loss Due To Fasting And Detoxification

Being thin from fasting is another realm as your image is not as important as healing and being thin due to extended detoxification is temporary.

You can become very thin during a long fast in a battle against cancer, injuries or damaged organs. Everyone will say you are too thin. This is one example.

I smashed both heels due to a construction accident. The pain was extreme, and I was looking at 6 months in a wheel chair. It was a serious condition. This was the longest juice fast of my life lasting 66 days with about a quart of juice per day. I never intended to go that long but when I ate, the pain level tripled, and so I returned to fasting. At the end of the 66 days, I was a bone rack. Nothing but ribs. Cheeks sunken and gaunt with long hair and a beard. I looked like someone out of the movies on the verge of death.

The doctor was confused looking at the x-rays and could not figure out why a man at the age of 40 was healing multiple bone fractures with the speed of a child. He just shook his head and said, “can you walk?”. My response is:”take these casts off”. I walked out of his office.

I regained my weight over the next 3 weeks. There was still intense pain in my heels and had to avoid heavy foods because they increase the pain.

Very few have the determination or need to fast 66 days. It would have been tough without the pain but the pain level was the third highest, just below second degree burns. It felt like 1,000 years in hell. The pain was searing and continuous.

I have fasted through back surgery and several injuries because I know how much it helps. Each time, I look bad but I do not care as I need the results.

The fast will consume all excess fat, reduce muscle size and any dead or dying cells. There is a limit and that comes after you are skin and bones. The final edge is when your body demands food. I have never been to the very edge where the last resources of the body are being used. That is only a place, for people battling threatening disease or seek a profound connection with God and have spiritual maturity to undertake such a feat.

If you are thin or average weight and you fast for 30 days on juice or 10 days on water, you will become very thin. Ribs will show, the face will become gaunt, and friends and family will display concern but the body will quickly normalize its weight in 5-to-10 days after the fast.

It is very important not to try to gain weight too quickly. The body can rebuild only at a set rate. Overeating will burden the body and undermine the rebuilding process.

well I have a question. I am a fairly skinny 17-year-old girl who is interested in fasting for many reasons. one of them NOT being aesthetic– i was planning on doing 30 days of water (ive done 10 before and after the 7th day for me it gets really easy). I was wondering if i will look like a starving child and if my friends will become concerned. I dont want to tell them Im fasting, because I hate explaining myseelf and they wouldnt understand. Is there any way to “hide” this or do I just have no hope?

    Hi Chris,
No hope, you will look like a bone wrack. How is your diet?
If you are water fasting off a junk food diet you will diminish health so it is better to juice. How is your self discipline. Why are you fasting so long? Did you break the fast correctly the first time?

  3. Henley says:

It is absurd that a 17 year old “fairly skinny” girl would try to fast for a lengthy period. I have read some articles about those who did hunger strikes. No food, but water to keep them living. The 7th day and after may seem to be easier. It’s because the body turns weak and numb that you don’t feel the hunger.

By the way, who are those guys you’re with on your “comments avatar”? You look like the “Great Teacher” with them lined up on the background..lol..

    Hi Henley,
How are you. The site looks good. We are no longer using baguioapartment.net so if you want to put it in the loop that would be good. It is doing nothing so and gets traffic.
The pic is the staff at St. Theodore’s Hospital of Sagada, I am the Director, Integrative Medicine, and the hospital is under our department. I am just heading off to work now. Come on up if you get some time and stay for a bit and update your skills. I have the same system in place that I had in Baguio but more intensive training.
As to skinny girls fasting. A delicate issue. I recommend shorter juice fasting to rebuild the body’s nutrients.

  5. Henley says:

Pretty nice. Right now I work in Ortigas here in Manila. I might possibly be coming up their to Sagada with some friends this December for a break..that’s POSSIBLY.lol. because I am not entitled for a vacation leave this Christmas.

You said you’re not using baguioapartment.net, has Esmond also gave up? Because if that would be the case then I will have to do a 301-redirect to either of baguioapartment.net or my baguiocitytransient.com to carry the original rankings to just one domain. Your’s is established for keyword “baguio apartment”, and I have yet to optimize baguiocitytransient.com.

Hi Henley, I have a question for you. I’m 6’2″ tall and my ideal weight has always been between 210-215. Over the past few months I have gained weight. I now weigh 237 lbs and look and feel horrible. Almost all of my clothes don’t fit. I started a low carb diet 6 days ago and have been going to the gym every day for at least an hour to 2 hours. I need am going to continue going to the gym no matter what. I need to lose 20 lbs as fast as possible. Will fasting do the trick for me and how long do you think it will take to shed the 20 lbs that I need to get rid of? Also, What is your opinion about drinking diet, caffiene free sprite, taking supplements like a daily vitamin and milk thistle while on my fasting time?

Hi I’m Erica. The Lord has directed me to go on a 40-day juice fast over Lent. I’m wanting to do it purely for spiritual reasons. I went to the doctor today and he is really worried that I am going to lose too much weight over the 40 days although he did mention that I’m very healthy and all my nutrients are currently at good levels so I may be able to cope with it. I’m currently 5’2″ and 51kg (about 112lb). Is there any thing I can do whilst I’m fasting to avoid me losing a dangerous amount of weight and still get through the spiritual journey that God wants to take me on? Cheers.

      Hi Oikle- Erica,
The more juice you drink the less weight you lose. You will get skinny but the body returns to a healthy weight very quickly then stops gaining. Listen to the audios for some direction.

      Hi Oikle
A warm welcome to fasting.ws great to have you with us.
As Tom has mentioned have a listen to the audio’s on the home page of this site, they are great to listen to for learning about fasting, if you feel that you are loosing to much weight then simply increase your juice intake.
      Blessings Keith.

Hi Keith and Tom, thanks for your quick reply. I have now listened to the audios … very helpful :) . Some people at work are suggesting that I spend the next 2 weeks, prior starting the fast, drinking protein shakes (like what body builders use) to try and put on some weight before I start. Good idea or bad idea?

    • Tom Coghill says:

      Hi Oikle,
Drinking protein shake for 2 weeks before the fast…bad idea. What will you gain? If you are a serious weightlifter in hard training (90 minutes a day 5 workouts per week minimium) yes great idea as the cuts are amazing. Muscle mass with no fat is a bodybuilders idea. If you are inactive protein shakes will make you fat then you will have to fast to get back to normal.

      Hi Erica
Tom jumped in there first before i could say the exact same thing as he did LOL.
Yeah that’s great if you are body-building.
All you have to do is increase your juice intake to counter rapid weight loss, it trial and error when fasting.
Bless your heart, and blessings on your journey for spiritual guidance.
Tom and I are logged on every day to support you and others fasting.
keep us posted on your daily progress.
      Blessings Keith.

Hi, im starting a juice fast today…i am about 5’4 242 lbs. I have been on 2 successful fasts…one was a 5 day and the second was a 10 day fast. Im at my wits end and tired of food and its addictions. I live in the united states where everyone is trying to get thin…and honestly i have tried every diet i can think of. I would love to lose 30 lbs, but i am taking one day at a time. I really need discipline and i am just fed with this weight. Hopefully this time i can go more than 10 days.
