Doing 30 days of Juice Fasting. Starting January 3, 2011
Reasons for Fasting:
I would like to lose 15 pounds, improve my overall health, detox and avoid future health issues as I age. I recently eliminated caffeine and alcohol from my diet and would like to take it a step further with a 30 day juice fast.Past Fasting Experience:
Occasional water or juice fasting for 1-3 days when feeling toxic. Nothing long term.Supplements:
vit D, vit E, B12, magnesium citrateRelevant Medical History:
Historically, I've been pretty healthy and active, but 4 years ago, my son suffered an autistic regression after vaccinations (he was 4 years old and had been healthy and completely normal prior to this). So, I stopped everything I was doing and devoted all my time to healing my son. I feel very blessed that I found supportive doctors using an alternative protocol of supplements (to support the methylation cycle) and dietary intervention (gluten-free, casein free, low excitotoxins) which ultimately ended up detoxifying and recovering my son. He still has occasional seizures, which we are working to control naturally, but other than that, he is now a happy, healthy 2nd grader. I'm so thankful for his health, but ultimately my health suffered during this time as I wasn't taking very good care of myself. In general, I feel sort of sluggish. My skin and hair are dull and depression seems to be a constant threat at my door. So, now that my son is doing so much better, I'm going to try and focus some energy on healing myself. (If you read all of that... thanks!)Present Medication or Drug Usage:
noneLimitations:
I have to cook 3 meals a day for my young children!Questions:
How much juice should I drink every day? So far, I've been having about 5 glasses (approx 8-10 oz each). I'm alternating a combination of spinach, kale, carrots, celery, apples with an occasional lemon thrown in. I'm also drinking a couple cups of herbal tea throughout the day. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
