    Hi Ashley,
You have fasted before so you know just how hard it is to make 40 days on a water fast.
I have never been a promoter of long water fasting.
Many have been successful without negative effects.
Yet for me the modern diet is too toxic and the body must live on its reserves which leads to some of the problems that I have witnessed on this site. Have some lemon juice rather that straight water. I also recommend one to 3 days of juice along the 40 days to prevent electrolyte imbalance.

Hi, Tom! I’ve done alot of reading Arnold Ehret’s books, so i follow his recommendations of doing lemon juice with a little honey rather than just water, maybe that’s why i’ve had so much better experience fasting because it doesn’t rid the body of toxins so quickly… I definitely know how difficult this will be but everytime I fast for a long time I feel so good that i make huge lifestyle changes and i’m looking forward to this. I don’t own a juicer but what do you think about lemon/honey fast? how will my electrolyte balance react to that?

    Hi Ashley,
Arnold Ehret was my inspiration to fast. I read the book 50 times at least just to keep me motivated. The lemon juice will keep your electrolytes in balance. A juicer is the most valuable item you can own to improve and maintain health. Juicing is the best way to start and end a fast.

Okay.. I’ll definitely look into a juicer for going off the fast and add a little extra honey and lemons for the first few days to ease myself into it a little more. I love arnold ehret ;) and I follow roger haeske’s teachings also. I’m looking forward to having this website for support in fasting

I’ve gotten through the first few days wonderfully, minimum hunger, lots of prayer, I’m feeling positive about the rest ;)

Day 3, feeling good with minor headaches, drinking some detox teas, is that bad?

I also ordered a juicer today and it should be here in a week. I took Tom’s advice and I’ll add juice to my fast when it gets here :)

      Hi Ashley:

I’ve never heard of Arnold Ehret. Why the lemon and bit of honey? Do you just juice the lemon and add the honey? I’ll check Amazon for his books.

So how are you? Where are you in your fasting? Please keep posting

Hi! I’m doing really well I’m on day 18 and I”m feeling great. I’m drinking alot of juice and feeling really good. Arnold Ehret is an amazing author who was way ahead of his time in terms of natural healing.. I would recommend his book Rational Fasting because it really explains the process of fasting. The reason he recommends adding lemon and honey is that the lemons keep your electolytes balanced and they help break down toxins in the system. Honey adds a little extra blood sugar to stop the toxins form being flushed into the system too quickly and causing unwanted pain or even sickness because the body becomes overloaded with toxins on water fasts, especially if you’ve had a toxic way of living before.

    HI Ashley:

that is good information to know…I will get some organic honey tommorrow…

what kind of juices are you consuming? How is your weight loss coming? I’m loving the clarity and I find that my prayers are better I hear things more clearly from God.

what was your raw foods diet like? Did you just do salads and veggies? I’m trying to gauge from the experience of others and purchase books, read so that when my 40 days is over next month [1/4/2011] i will know how to be equipped to be a better eater

    please keep posting :)

    Hi Ashley,

This is my first time trying to fast for 40 days and I was very pleased to see that you are doing green tea! The reason why I’ve decided to do this is that a drunk driver crushed my body and I had to learn how to walk all over again. To make a long story short I decided to fast for 40 days. I’ve fast in the past for spiritual reasons. I’m on my forth day so we shall see. Reading post like yours and others are encouraging.
